Coming to bat first after losing the toss, Kandy found themselves in quagmire as they lost Dinesh Chandimal, Muhammad Haris, Kamindu Mendis and Pavan Rathnayake inside the powerplay. Their only hope was Andre Fletcher, who continued his good form to register another fifty in this edition's LPL but got out in an unfortunate manner on 50. Angelo Mathews struggled to play shots today and he contributed 25 from 27 balls.
The star of the batting show was the skipper Wanindu Hasaranga. He took on the bowlers right from the start and hit everything correctly. He remained unbeaten on 65 from 32 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Had there been more contribution from the lower order, Kandy would have reached 190 today.
Isuru Udana was the star of the show with the ball picking up 3 wickets for 30 runs. Zahoor Khan took 2 wickets for 29 runs. Maheesh Theekshana and Dwaine Pretorius chipped in with one wicket each.

Isuru Udana(Player of the Match): "I think the wickets are very flat and the ground is also small. Taking early wickets is the key and I did it today. There was not much of swing and I tried to bowl it in proper areas. I sticked to my basic and that has paid off."
Wanindu Hasaranga(Kandy Falcons Captain): "Thank you for appreciating the knock. I think we were 15-20 runs short. The ball was initially hanging but the wicket became better. Fletcher, Mathews and I batted well.
We tried to bowl with discipline but failed to do so. If we had done that, it was defendable."
