SIX!!! THUMPED AWAY!! Sales misses his yorker and bowls it on the fuller side, around off. Nathan opens his stance and clubs it over the wide long on fence for a biggie.

James Sales to Nathan McAndrew
OUT!!! TAKEN!! THAT'S IT!! Full and around middle. Nathan stays leg side of the delivery and tries to slog it, but his bat face gets tilted in his hands. Ends up mistiming it to long on, where the fielder, McSweeney, snaffles it. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE HAVE DEFEATED GLAMORGAN BY 53 RUNS!!!

NOR won by 53 runs
1:46 AM IST and 9:16 PM Local Time: Chris Lynn's scintillating hundred and the spinners immaculate control in the middle overs in the second innings helped Northamptonshire to get a thumping victory over Glamorgan. It is a crucial away victory for the Northamptonshire and they will thoroughly enjoy this victory.

Winning the toss, Steelbacks elected to bat first. Chris Lynn took the aggressor's role in the second over when he smacked Asa Tribe for a maximum and two boundaries in successive balls. Glamorgan's plan to introduce spinners against left handed Ricardo Vasconcelos and Lynn, a relatively weaker player against spin did not work. They reverted to pace and Lynn greeted Nathan McAndrew with a boundary. Vasconcelos joined the party as he hit two sixes and a boundary off McAndrew and a boundary of Timm van der Gugten to score 25 quickly. But McAndrew had his revenge as Vasconcelos skied one off his bowling and the catch was snaffled by Neesham. Steelbacks were 63/1 in the powerplay. They had all the momentum.

Chris Lynn's onslaught was inexorable despite him not getting good support after that. Nathan McSweeney (12) and David Willey (6) fell cheaply but Lynn's bat made sure the run rate didn't drop below 10 runs per over. With 115/3 on the board in the 12th over, Saif Zaib joined the mighty Aussie and they together put up 56 runs for the 4th wicket in just 29 balls. Zaib was batting well but Benjamin Kellaway's turn beat him and Chris Cooke stumped him for 25. Lynn got to his hundred in just 49 balls and added 12 more in the next 7 balls. His 117 off 56 balls with 10 fours and 7 sixes proved to be decisive. When he was dismissed, Steelbacks were 197/6 at the end of the 18th over. The hope of posting 225 was dented but Lewis McManus stepped up and hit 2 sixes to play a cameo knock of 16 off 7 to help his side finish with a gargantuan total of 217/7 in their 20 overs.

For Glamorgan, Benjamin Kellaway was the star of the show. In the run fest, he was economical and finished with 3/22 in his 4 overs. Nathan McAndrew picked up 2 wickets but conceded 54 runs. Daniel Douthwaite and Jimmy Neesham chipped in with a wicket each.

To chase the hefty target of 218, Glamorgan needed a solid start. Their skipper Kiran Carlson and William Smale stepped up and hit two sixes off David Willey in the very first over. Smale later hit another maximum and they were going at a really good rate. But a jolt against the run of play decimated the momentum. Smale and Carlson had a horrible mix-up and the former sacrificed his wicket. Benjamin Kellaway joined Carlson and the skipper remained the aggressor. They together took the score to 62/1 after the end of the powerplay, just one run short of what Northamptonshire posted.

Till this point, things were evenly poised but the introduction of Calvin Harrison brought a drastic turn in the events. The leg spinner got the better of Carlson (42 off 20) and kept things tight. Harrison bowled from one end and the left arm orthodox spinner Saif Zaib operated from the other end. They together wiped out the Glamorgan middle order. Carlson and Asa Tribe became the victims of Harrison. Zaib dismissed Benjamin Kellaway and Sean Dickson. After Carlson's departure, Glamorgan posted only 32 from the next 30 balls but lost three wickets and this was an irrecoverable blow to them. Harrison later removed Jimmy Neesham and finished with 3/20 in his 4 overs. Saif Zaib went for 27 in his 4 overs picking up 2 wickets.

Chris Cooke and Daniel Douthwaite didn't contribute much and the hosts were reduced to 118/8. Nathan McAndrew and Timm van der Gugten decided to not give up without a fight. They batted 22 balls together to add 40 runs to the team total before Timm was knocked over by David Willey. McAndrew hit four sixes and a boundary on his way to score 36 and in the 17th ball of his innings, his flat batted heave off James Sales went to Nathan McSweeney at wide long-on. Glamorgan were bundled out for 164, losing the game by 53 runs.

The spinners set the tone for the Northamptonshire Steelbacks and their pacers played a perfect second fiddle. James Sales (2/21), David Willey (1/31) and George Scrimshaw (1/34) got their names to the wicket column and wrapped up the proceedings.

That's it from the live coverage of the 87th T20 match of the ongoing T20 Blast 2026 between Glamorgan and Northamptonshire Steelbacks. The Steelbacks got a thumping victory and the courtesy goes to a fabulous hundred by Chris Lynn and their spinners. This defeat by a big margin of 53 runs will surely shatter the confidence of Glamorgan and they will look to bounce back stronger.

For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Dev Rajawat and the scorer/analyst of this match Zeeshan Naiyer. Good night.
