Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain & POTM): [Gill wears the Orange Cap] "(Does it feel like he is batting like he did in 2023?) Honestly, I don't think it matters and the only thing that matters is the team winning. Winning the cup in the Finals is what I am looking forward to.

(His thoughts as the game was going down to the wire?) Yeah, I mean ideally I would've loved to finish off the game at least an over or maybe couple of overs before. I was quite disappointed with the way I got out. I wanted to be there till the end and finish it. Hopefully, the next chance I get, I will look to do that.

(How was the bowling performance in the powerplay?) Honestly, the way both of them (Siraj and Rabada) were bowling was like they could get a wicket off every ball and giving them one extra over worked for us. I could see the ball was nipping a bit. I asked both of them whether they are okay to bowl an extra over as it was very hot out there and never easy to bowl three overs on the trot.

(What was his message to the team during Green's carnage during the middle overs?) Yeah, I think they took the game away from us a little bit in the middle overs. I think it was important to still look for wickets as they have a long batting line-up. Sunil came at Number 9 or something. So, we knew that they were going to swing at every ball. So, having that mindset of looking for wickets and being in that attacking mindset was really important for us.

(Has he worked on his fitness before the season began?) Well, fitness was something I have worked really hard couple of months before this tournament began. Apart from that, I was working on the mental aspect of the game and trying to get better not just technically but tactically as well.

(What's the way to get better mentally and tactically?) It is about staying in the present and not think too far ahead. You don't want to dwell on the past. Your mind takes you to all sorts of places but it is important to stay in the present."
There were plenty of batters getting starts, but only two of them converted them into something substantial. Cameron Green rescued Kolkata Knight Riders' innings, but it wasn't enough to give them their first win this season.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have climbed to fourth spot with a hat-trick of wins. Shubman Gill led from the front after the seamers set it up early on in the evening. It got a tad nervy towards the end, but the hosts did just enough to keep KKR winless.

Tomorrow, it is a doubleheader. RCB take on DC in Bengaluru in the afternoon fixture, before SRH host CSK in Hyderabad.

For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Pritam Dey, scorers Manish Bishnoi and Paras Yadav, helping buddy Mohammad Anab and statistician Aman. We will meet again. Until then, it is cheers!
