Earlier, after deciding to bat first, Harare Hurricanes posted a mammoth 134 runs in 10 overs. Robin Uthappa and Regis Chakabva spearheaded the innings for the Hurricanes and the duo thwarted the bowlers from the word go and forged a partnership of 92 runs for the first wicket, setting the platform for the high total. Uthappa contributed 53 runs off just 23 balls, while Chakabva contributed 43 runs off as many balls. At the cue end of the innings Donavon Ferreira played an unbeaten short cameo of 24 runs off 12 balls and helped his side post 134 runs. Brad Evans and Azmatullah bagged a wicket apiece for Durban Qalandars.
In pursuit of Hurricanes' 134 runs, Qalandars didn't get the start they needed as they lost Tim Seifert for a mere 8 runs off 6 balls. Andre Fletcher and Hazratullah Zazai tried to catch the required run rate and scored at a brisk pace but the duo failed to maintain the run rate and eventually, they fell 24 runs short of the target. Fletcher remained unbeaten on 50 runs off 25 balls, while Zazai departed for 49 runs off 28 balls in the last over.
On the bowling front, Hurricanes defended the high total comprehensively but only Luke Jongwe managed to extra a couple of wickets, and the rest all went wicketless.
