After winning the toss, India Capitals Captain Sachin Tendulkar chose to bowl first. For England Masters, skipper Eoin Morgan and Phil Mustard opened the innings. They faced early setbacks as both the batters were dismissed cheaply. While Morgan scored 14 in 13 balls, Mustard added just 8 in 12 balls. Tim Ambrose and Darren Maddy added 43 runs for the third wicket before Ambrose was dismissed for 23 in 22 balls. Maddy scored 25 in 24 balls. While they were struggling to put pressure on the bowling side, Chris Schofield and Chris Tremlett played big shots to increase the run rate. While Tremlett scored 16 in 8 balls, Schofield remained unbeaten on 18* in 8 balls. They ended their innings at 132/8 in 20 overs.
For India Capitals, Dhawal Kulkarni was the pick of the bowlers who took 3/21 in 4 overs. Abhimanyu Mithun and Pawan Negi picked 2 wickets each in the innings. Vinay Kumar took 1/27 in 3 overs.
Chasing a target of 133 on the board, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and Gurkeerat Singh Mann opened the innings for India Masters. Both the openers pounced on the bowlers of England Masters from the very first over. The duo added 75 runs for the first wicket till Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed for 34 in 24 balls. Mann was then joined by the stylish Yuvraj Singh in the middle. With just 58 runs in 27 balls for the second wicket partnership, Yuvraj and Mann took the game away from their opponent. While Yuvraj remained unbeaten on 27* in 14 balls, Mann added 63* in 35 balls.
For England Masters, Chris Schofield was the only wicket taker in the match. He took 1/33 in 2.4 overs.

Eoin Morgan (England Captain): "Here, we got completely outplayed. Congratulations to Team India. They set the right tempo and intensity. They did nothing wrong. They kept the pressure us by bowling on the right lines and lengths. We couldn't shake them off, and honestly, it was a low total to defend. We were always under the pump after posting that low total. But we will look to get better and better as this tournament progresses.
It was something that we spoke about when this tournament was announced, and Sachin actually spoke about engaging with the newer generation of players to legends like Brian Lara and himself.
Hopefully, this will continue with this tournament. Approach-wise, you need to get as aggressive as you can get in T20s.

Pawan Negi (Player of the Match)- “The aim was very simple to give our hundred percent in the match. Sachin Tendulkar always advises us to always give our best in every match. In fact, we performed well in the match, both with the ball and the bat which helped us win the match.”
Sachin Tendulkar (India Masters Captain): "It is a good habit to have. Good start I would say, it was a combined effort from the team - we bowled well, we batted well and we fielded well.
When the crowd is as loud as it was, it gets difficult to keep the fielders' sight on me, but I was continuously asking them to watch me. It's fine as everyone here to enjoy themselves. The package was great as the crowd was very loud.
It feels nice as it feels like an international game, and the tournament gets even more intense as it goes on.
The only thing I would say about him (Gurkeerat Singh) is that the sound coming from his bat was sweet. I was just asking to time the ball, and when you're able to do it, it becomes the best sport to play. I enjoyed the sound coming from his bat."
