Update 6:23 PM IST | India have chased 109 runs in 20.1 overs and have won the fixture by 8 wickets. They have sealed the series 2-0 with a match to go. Rohit Sharma was the star for India with the bat in hand as he smashed his 48th ODI fifty.
Earlier in the day India won the toss and decided to bowl first. They have backed up the decision to bowl first with a stellar performance. Shami got India off to a great start with a wicket maiden first over. The New Zealand team never really recovered as the India new ball pair reduced them to 15/4 in no time. Within 11 overs, half the New Zealand team where back in the hut.
Bracewell and Phillips did try their best to get the team back on track but the man who smashed a ton last time around fell to Hardik's bouncer. Soon after that Phillips played a poor shot against Washi and took the walk back.
In no time New Zealand were wrapped up for 108 and Shami was the star of the day with 3 wickets to his name. Phillips, Bracewell, and Santner were the only three batters who had a clue about what was happening out there in the middle.
As far as the chase is concerned, India started off with a lot of caution. Both Gill and Rohit were aware of the danger the New Zealand attack possessed. They started off slowly but after being set Rohit took the bowling apart, Gill just rotated the strike and watched it all happen.

Shubman Gill: "Yes, I mean this was a good opportunity for me to spend time in the middle. There was something in it initially but stopped doing anything after 4-5 overs. There was something in it for the spinners. Always a pleasure to bat with Rohit and Virat. I am honored. No, I don't mind it, Sir. Yes, I mean me and Ishan are best mates and we have a bit of laughter. We spend a lot of time together off the field and good to spend some time on the field as well. Thank You very much."

Tom Latham (New Zealand Captain): "Yes, obviously batting up top losing 5/15, and was our worst performance. India did not give us anything and they deserve the win. The surface was two-paced. Tennis ball bounce and all, we just didn't apply ourselves with the bat. We got to 100+ but that was not enough. We haven't adapted well to the conditions and that's why we lost the series. I think India deserves the win."
Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "Yes, I thought the last 5 games, the bowlers have stepped up and delivered. To see this kind of bowling in India has been amazing to see. These guys are working hard and the rewards are there for all to see. The ball was nipping around when we trained here yesterday. We knew 250 would have been challenging and I wanted to chase today. Don't know what I will do in Indore. We are keeping an eye on the World Cup and the confidence level is high. They wanted to go along at 15/5, but there is a Test series coming in. They were in a great rhythm and that was great to see.

Mohammed Shami (Player of the Match): "Nothing like that. I focus on lines and lengths. Yes, very good balls don't get you wickets and bad balls get you wickets sometimes. It happens. I believe in sticking to the basics and have the passion to do well. Have the right seam position and does not matter what the wicket is. The seam in the air helps. Yes, when the game starts, you don't know the conditions and then after an over you get to know them. It's important to pass on the message to the youngsters as they are willing to learn you see. I am happy with my performance."
