Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "I think we didn't bat well enough. Halfway through the stage, when we were batting we were 80 for 3 down. You expect guys to stitch the partnership. We were 15-20 runs short. Every run matters on a ground like this. Bowlers came and did the job for us.
I thought there was enough in the pitch. Was a good wicket to be honest compared to the last 2 wickets we played here. 140 was a good score to fight. With this bowling attack you feel confident that the boys can do the job. The never say die attitude in the team. We only had 119 on the board. We wanted to make early inroads which we didn't. At the halfway stage of their innings, we regrouped and said 'if things can happen to us, it can happen to them as well.'
You need everyone to show up. Little contribution from everyone makes a huge difference. Whoever had ball in hand wanted to contribute for the team.
Bumrah is going strength to strength. We've seen him over the years now and what he can do with the ball we all know about it. I am not gonna talk too much about him. We want him to be in that mindset till the end of the World Cup. He is a genius with the ball.
There is no doubt about it. The crowd was superb. They never disappoint. Wherever we play in the world, they come in huge numbers and support us. I am sure they will go home with a big smile on their face. Its just the start of the tournament, still a long way to go."
