AND INDIA HAS SEALED A DOMINANT VICTORY OVER SRI LANKA AND WITH THAT THE SERIES TOO! India defeat a hapless Sri Lanka side by 91 runs to take home the match and maintain their unbeaten record in bi-lateral series deciders in India!
India won the toss and elected to bat first, after grabbing the wicket of Ishan Kishan early in the innings, Sri Lanka crossed paths with Rahul Tripathi and things were not the same after that. Tripathi's brilliant cameo 35 runs from 16 balls powered India to a powerplay total of 53/2!
However, after the powerplay, India's Suryakumar Yadav lit up the SKY with a brilliant century! Stitching together a 111 run partnership with Shubman Gill, SKY eventually went onto a score a unbeaten 112 runs off 51 balls, in an innings that included 7 Fours and 9 Maximums! His innings with apt support from Shubman Gill and Axar Patel, India managed to power their way to a total of 229/5 from their 20 overs!
Come the chase, India appeared to have got off to a dream start when Hardik Pandya trapped Nissanka in front, only for the DRS to overturn the decision! But after some early fireworks from Mendis in the powerplay, the Indian bowlers took the game by the scruff of it's neck and never looked back.
After dismissing Mendis in the 5th over of the powerplay at 44 runs, India took the next 9 wickets for only 93 runs! Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka top scored for Sri Lanka with a joint high of 23 runs! Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, as he roared back after a disappointing first over to pick up 3/20 from his 2.4 overs, while Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umran Malik all chipped in with crucial wickets.
In the end India sealed a 2-1 series win at Home over Sri Lanka. They will now march onto their next series with confidence, while Sri Lanka will go back to the drawing board to improve their mistakes for the next series!

Yuzvendra Chahal: "I bowl according to the wicket. I discussed with the coaches about the length and the pace. If the batter hits from there, then its a good shot from him. What Surya does in the nets, you see that in the match. He is batting at a different level and I am happy that I am in his team.
Axar has always been a perfect package. The way he is batting, it has become harder to bowl at him as well. He has a good reach and hits the ball clean. Shanaka batted well but we fought and discussed about the positives later in the team meeting."

Dasun Shanaka | Sri Lanka Captain: "I was not in top form but from the start of this series I was in good form, so I'm happy about that. A lot of positives from this series with the batting, a bit disappointing on the bowling side but I'm seeing improvement. Coming into this series I had an injury on my finger and hence I did not bowl, but in the ODI series I look forward to bowling. Congratulations to the Indian team, they played brilliantly. In the field I want to keep my boys relaxed because they need to learn at the international level by themselves and that's why we plan before the game."
Suryakumar Yadav is the player of the match.
Suryakumar Yadav: "Its really important to put yourself when you are preparing for any game. Its important to know what routine you follow. When you put pressure in the practice then it becomes easier in the game. There is a lot of hard work involved in that. I try and keep things very simple.
The boundaries behind are 59-60 metres so I just try and clear them. There are a few strokes which are pre determined but I have other strokes in the armory as well. Most of the times I try and time the ball and find the gap as much as possible and use the field to my effect. He [Rahul Dravid] just lets me enjoy in whatever the situation I go in and be the game changer on the day."

Axar Patel: "I'm happier when I contribute more with my batting. I have more confidence from the captain, that play as you feel like. We plan during our meetings but during the game the mindset is very important. I follow the plan and if I execute it well, everything will go well."
Hardik Pandya (India Captain): " Sky is surprising everyone every innings and telling everyone how easy it is to bat. The kind of shots he's playing. He's playing blinders after blinders which is now a habit. The way Rahul Tripathi batted with intent and changed the momentum for us was brilliant. Sky is quite experienced now, knows what is happening.
I am really proud the way Axar is batting coming down the order and hitting. This will give him a lot of confidence and the team as well. That has been my motto in my life and captain as well. I'll back my bowlers and batters. These are the best Indian cricketers in the T20 format and that's why they are here. There is no room for doubting in international cricket.
