1:58 AM IST, 9:28 PM Local Time: That’s it. England clinch the T20I series after a convincing win in the decider. They beat India by 6 wickets to claim the series 2-1. It was a sensational performance from them tonight and this win will boost their confidence heading into the T20 World Cup at home. India, meanwhile, have a lot of questions to answer.

Chasing, 181, England lost their top three inside the powerplay. Sophia Dunkley (16), Danielle Wyatt-Hodge (5) and Amy Jones (2) were sent packing cheaply. Alice Capsey at four played aggressively and kept scoring at a brisk rate. She received good support from Heather Knight as the hosts were well-placed at 97/3 at the halfway mark of their innings.

Capsey brought up her fifty in just 27 balls. Knight too raced to her fifty in 31 balls as the stand grew past the triple-figure mark. The Indian bowlers looked clueless on the field. Finally, they managed to break the 137-run stand as Capsey fell after her career-best knock of 43-ball 82.

Knight (70* off 42) and Freya Kemp (2* off 2) provided the finishing touches to the chase as England got across the line in 18.3 overs with six wickets in hand. For the visitors, Arundhati Reddy (2/31) and Kranti Gaud (2/40) picked up two wickets each but they failed to defend the total.

After being asked to bat first, India lost both their openers Shafali Verma (11) and Smriti Mandhana (8) inside the powerplay. Yastika Bhatia at three scored a quickfire 18-ball 32 before getting run out. Jemimah Rodrigues along with her skipper Harmanpreet Kaur stitched a good 40-run stand before the former fell on 29.

Deepti Sharma and Harmanpreet kept the English side at bay with a solid 67-run stand for the fifth wicket. Deepti scored 32 before departing in the 19th over. Harmanpreet raced past her fifty and remained unbeaten on 56 off 40 along with Richa Ghosh (6*) as India finished their innings on 180/5.

For England, Lauren Bell picked up two wickets, giving away 36 runs in her four overs. In the chase, the 137-run stand between Capsey and Knight proved to be the match-winning one as England wrapped up the series with a 2-1 margin with a six-wicket win in the decider.

Stay tuned for the post-series presentation.

Player of the Match & Player of the Series: Alice Capsey
Alice Capsey (POTM & POTS): "[On her knock and that partnership with Knight] Pleasing to get over the line. We talked a lot about getting across the line in the big totals. Heather was calm. It was good batting with her. Just tried to stay up with the rate.

[On adjusting after losing three early wickets] At top, they bowled pretty well. Just using my feet was key for me. Aiming straight. The ball was coming on nicely.

[On hitting straight down the ground] I just thought the pitch was coming on nicely. It felt like aiming straight was a good option. I just saw the Indian batters get value for hitting straight. I just tried to emulate it.

[What's her favorite position?] No, I don't think I have a favorite position. Just batting for England and contributing runs is the main thing."
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): "(Where did India go wrong tonight?) I think for us it was on a matter of getting one more wicket. We got three early wickets but we were looking for one more but both of them played really well. They took the game away from us.

(On the positives in the build-up to the world cup) Yeah, there were a lot of positives except from going for that wicket, you know. But yes, lot of positives going into the world cup.

(Have they figured out their best XI for the World Cup?) I think yes. We are pretty much clear of the XI we will play. We still have got 2 more practice games to play. We will think about the other combinations like Radha is there and ready. So, apart from her, Bharti Fulmali is also there. We have 2 very good players who are missing out. We will give them some chances in the practice games and then see how it goes.

(On the conditions) Yeah definitely. The idea behind coming here early was to get used to the conditions. We will assess the conditions better and turn up well for the world cup."
Charlie Dean (England Women Captain): "[Was she nervous after losing three early wickets?] To be honest, no. The girls took on the powerplay. That's what we asked them to do. A brilliant partnership between Capsey and Knight and we pulled off the record total.

[On their fielding tonight] I think those are the standards that we want to set for ourselves. They hit a lot of boundaries. It's hard to keep up the level when you are leaking runs. But happy seeing the way the girls responded.

[On her bowling] Yeah, I'm really enjoying bowling at the moment. I was a bit expensive today. But I have got different plans as well and it's exciting. Happy the way it is coming out.

[On her captaincy] I have learnt a huge about myself. It may be a daunting challenge but I enjoyed it. The girls supported me.

[Does this series win help her if in case she has to lead England in the T20 WC?] Massively. Probably, previous to this, I would have been nervous. Nat should be ready to get with us soon. But I should be ready to get over and it will be a smoother transition.

[On that partnership between Capsey and Knight] It was brilliant. The way they picked up their moments and their bowlers. The calmness they showed, we didn't have any doubt in the dugout."

England Women complete a remarkable comeback to clinch the T20I series 2-1 against India Women. After falling 1-0 behind in the series, the hosts showed tremendous character and resilience, bouncing back strongly to win the next two matches and seal the series in impressive fashion.

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my colleagues Akshay Bhide, Sachin Yadav, Paras Yadav and Chandan Kr Singh. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
