Who would have thought that the Spirits would come back so near in the run-chase after getting stuck at 65-7. But this is cricket, it's an unpredictable game and the hundred seem to be flooding with all these events including rollercoaster rides. Another game and yet another seat thriller as the London Spirits almost made it to their first victory in the tournament. From 20 required of 6 deliveries to just 9 required off 3 deliveries is what we witnessed minutes back. But the in form bowler, Marchant de Lange keeping his calm and delivered few outstanding deliveries to snatch past a victory in their favor at the end.The surface looked like a slower one and it gradually got more sludgy as the ball kept sticking to the surface more often than not.

Earlier in the evening, Eoin Morgan of London Spirits had won the coin flip and opted to field first. The bowlers were brilliant in the start and so was the captaincy from Eoin Morgan. After an economical, wicketless first over from Md. Amir, Morgs went back to his spin trio of Roelof, Mason, and Nabi. This worked superbly for the Spirits as they managed to jab the opposition on the backfoot in no time. The openers of Trent Rockets started off slow but just when Alex Hales seemed to pick up the pace, Nabi sent him back with a peach. Nabi followed up with another wicket of Dawid Malan and the other spinners added few wickets to their columns too. Darcy Short was the only one who withstood at one end and took the game deep. He started off his innings at a brisk pace but accelerated at the later part of the game to take Trent Rockets to 123-4 after 100 balls on the back of his magnificent 69* of 47 deliveries.

Arriving to chase down a total of 124 in 100 balls, the openers of the Spirits seem to be hurrying too much. Rossington was the first one to depart trying to swivel a length ball over deep square leg. Nabi came in at one down, followed up with a six, and later got out in a space of eight deliveries. Marson Carter was the bowler who got the edge over on both occasions. Left-arm orthodox spinner, Samit Patel and Rashid Khan followed up with few more wickets and pushed the Spirits on 48-5 after 50 balls.

Skipper Eoin Morgan looked a bit decent but couldn't convert as he fell short for 18 runs from 20 deliveries. Reolef Van Der Merwe and Md. Amir held on to the crease and kept the scoreboard ticking with 28 more runs together. It does felt like the match was completely being dominated by the Rockets throughout until Van Der Merwe and Cullen gave the London fans some hopes. Cullen at no.10 amassed the crowd with some sixes and fours and dig the game deep to 14 runs needed from the last set of five. The duo began the over with a boundary but failed to close the game on the winning end, courtesy to Marchant De Lange's brilliancy.

Man of the Match: D'Arcy Short - 69* of 47 balls.

D'Arcy Short (Man of the Match): "To be honest I was looking at 150. That last over helped us out at the end. It was a slow pitch, the ball was gripping and holding. It was tough for the new batsmen. The plan in the last over was just to hit out or get out. It is always good to have people out there supporting the game."

Eoin Morgan: "Not a fantastic game. The crowd was outstanding, it was an electric atmosphere at the Home of Cricket. I thought we bowled well but we gotta take more responsibility with the bat. The home support is fantastic. We gotta be logical and it's simple cricket. Attacking shots didn't come off, but we failed to take advantage of chasing a target. When you take the wicket, the new batsman will be on strike. I think this should be applied to all forms of cricket. Standard of Women's cricket has been really high too, it will get better and better. Watching domestic players come through has been impressive. We will see more unknown cricketers become household names."
