They break their four-match losing streak with a seven-wicket win. The win doesn't make any changes on the points table but will surely give the New York-based franchise some momentum heading into the end of the group stages.
Earlier in the match, Nicholas Pooran won the toss and opted to bowl. Trent Boult was remarkable with the new ball. He picked up three wickets in his first three overs all inside the powerplay.
Saif Badar and Sherfane Rutherford tried to steady the team with a 37-run stand for the fourth wicket. Badar perished, trying to take down the spinner.
Rovman Powell gave Rutherford company as the duo added 32 runs for the 5th wicket but Powell fell for just 5. It was a one-man show from the Knight Riders' camp as Sherfane Rutherford made 86 off just 44 balls.
Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers, taking four for 17 from his four overs. Kieron Pollard bagged two for 15 from his three overs. Ehsan Adil and Nosthush Kenjige both chipped in with a wicket each.
In reply, MI New York lost Quinton de Kock early in the piece. Nicholas Pooran then joined Monank Patel in the middle, the duo weathered the storm.
Pooran, in particular, was lucky to get early reprieves. They added 112 runs for the 2nd wicket. LA Knight Riders didn't help their cause by dropping catches left, right and center.
Monank fell for 56 off 44. But Pooran remained not out on 62 off 47 while Pollard came in late and hit a couple of maximums to see MI New York home.

Jason Holder(LA Knight Riders Captain): "Yeah it was difficult to know what a good total was. I think toss was quite crucial, it was quiet tacky upfront. Also, it was very wet in the second half.
Just think that he is in a position where he needs to get some time. He did a really good job in the last game and he was off to a good start in this match, unfortunately he got out to one which kept very low.
I think we have had bright sparks in each game. We have done a lot of good things. Just a matter of time, till we put everything together. We have let ourselves down on the field and it has definitely let us down."

Trent Boult (MVP): "I wouldn't say the master (of bowling with the new ball). I have a clear role to pick wickets in the powerplay. There was swing around under humid conditions. Nice to see the stumps light up a couple of times tonight.
I think you have to have a plan B. In some cases, Plan C is also important. You have to move across those plans to not get hurt too quickly. I have played around the world. You need to read the conditions and then back your instincts.
As a young kid growing up, I used to aspire many bowlers swinging the ball. I think in T20 cricket, there is a lot for the bowlers who can swing the ball."

Nicholas Pooran(MI New York Captain): "The rain has been around and the conditions favoured us. We had Trent Boult bowling with the new ball and he was up for the challenge, bowling in test match like conditions. We have had other teams use the conditions better than us, but today we did.
Partnership, really important, left - right combination. Monank has been playing really well. Today it was really important for us to get that partnership. We knew Sunil Narine had to bowl early, and it is very difficult to bowl in a left - right combination. Monank put the pressure on them, and allowed me to get in. And coming in the back end of the innings, it got easier as the game played out for us."
