01:44 AM IST, 09:14 PM Local Time: A complete performance from start to finish has seen the Trent Rockets register a six-wicket win over the Manchester Super Giants with six balls to spare. With this victory, the Trent Rockets also go to the top of the points table.
Chasing 138 for victory, the Rockets didn't get off to the best start as Ben Duckett misexecuted his scoop shot off Gus Atkinson to get bowled for a two-ball duck. Gus Atkinson was in the thick of the action once again when he took a fine catch at deep square-leg to send back Tom Banton off Sonny Baker's bowling. The Rockets still had a fantastic Powerplay as they raced off to 44/2.
The duo of Finn Allen and Sam Billings continued to smack the ball around the park off both the seamers and pacers. They brought up a 50-run partnership as well with the Manchester Super Giants' spinners not able to make the most off a slow-ish surface. Billings did get out for 29 (15) as he holed out to deep mid-wicket off Atkinson but Allen got to his fifty off 23 balls and motored on. Sonny Baker also got a second scalp in the form of Tim David and yet it didn't make much of a difference as the Kiwi duo of Allen and Mitchell Santner made easy work of the chase. Allen, in particular, was unbelievable as he finished up with 72 (35) to play a massive role in the Rockets finishing the game with 13 balls to spare.
Earlier in the match, the Super Giants got off to a pretty good start as they got to 38/0 at the end of the Powerplay with Aiden Markram especially looking in good touch. However, Sam Billings persisted with Craig Overton and the lanky seamer dismissed Tim Seifert for 12 (9) to get the first scalp. Jos Buttler walked in and struck a couple of sixes in his first six balls but the scoring rate came down drastically with Aiden Markram also unable to bat freely.
The pressure paid off for the Rockets with Markram finding Lewis Gregory at mid-on off Overton's bowling to be dismissed for 28 (24). A couple of balls later, Heinrich Klaasen also miscued a pull shot to deep square-leg as Craig Overton finised with three massive wickets. Thereafter, the Rockets' bowlers operated slowly as they bowled several off-pace deliveries into the wicket to just not allow Buttler and Leus du Plooy find boundaries or even rotate the strike comfortably.
It was only in the last 15 odd balls that Leus du Plooy started to get going with a couple of maximums while Buttler also smacked 16 runs off the last five bowled by Lewis Gregory to get to his third consecutive fifty. Despite the late flourish, the Super Giants only managed to 137/3 off their 100 balls.

They bowled really well and challenged us with a pretty impressive bowling attack. We just wanted to build a good foundation early, absorb the pressure where we could, and then cash in later.
(On readjusting to The Hundred format) The first game is definitely a bit of a shock to the system because everything happens so quickly. But I just try to approach it like any other game, stick to my routines, and trust the same processes.
(On the cramps he suffered during his innings) Yeah, both my calves and my hamstring were cramping up throughout the innings, but everything's all good now.
(On sitting at the top of the table) We spoke about how challenging this run of away games was going to be. If we could pick up a few wins before heading home, it would put us in a really good position for our finals chances. We're pretty happy with how things have gone on the road so far.

[Regarding Finn Allen's knock] He is a great guy. He hits a cricket ball like a golf ball. Like I told, effortless power. At the start of the innings, he played proper cricketing shots. Then, off the back-foot, he plays shots which puts both pacers and spinners under pressure. Played a terrible shot to get out, that's how the game goes but got a partnership with him. To score at 200 SR on this pitch and these are not small boundaries either.
[About Craig Overton's spell and the pace attack as a whole] He is called beefy at the moment. He is done it with the new ball consistently. Three wickets today against some quality players. The first couple of games, we struggled a bit to find our best. Matt Henry is great with the new ball, Mohammad Amir as well. All three of them, such different bowlers but they have fed off each other.
[Importance of winning this game against the Super Giants] They had a brilliant win, at Leeds against Manchester I think. 3 wins in four games at the moment puts us in a great position. The beauty of the competition is that you know you have to bring your best against every team.
[Advantage of having an extra bowling option] A lot of these tournaments, personally I like having a sixth bowling option. Calvin (Harrison) has been exceptional.
[What decides who to use as the sixth bowler] Just a feeling, Lewis Gregory is experienced and has the ability to bowl at different phases of the innings.
