SFU won by 47 runs

9:13 AM IST, 10:43 PM Local Time: San Francisco Unicorns have beaten MI New York by a massive margin of 47 runs. The batters set up the game for them in Dallas, but the bowlers defended this massive score of 247 runs in some style. 

Chasing 248 runs was never going to be easy for any side, but MINY had the ingredients to pull off that chase. Monank Patel and Quinton de Kock gave them a great start. Both the batter went behind the San Francisco bowlers from the word go. Patel, in particular, was lethal in his strokeplay. He slammed 10 fours and a maximum during his knock of 60 runs.

Patel and de Kock shared an opening stand of 119 runs. However, all went south for New York after Patel's departure. Boundaries stopped coming for the well-set QDK, while Nickolas Pooran too struggled to smoke the long balls. 

The duo of Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran tried for a juncture of 34 balls, but could only add 40 runs between them. All that, it was over for MINY. Kieron Pollard did try in the end, but it was just the artificial excitement. 

With the ball, Romario Shepherd and Xavier Bartlett had the best time as they snapped two wickets each. Meanwhile, Haris Rauf and Liam Plunkett, too, had a wicket each in their bank. 

In the end, San Francisco Unicorns won it by 47 runs.

Nicholas Pooran (MI New York Captain): "Tough day for us. As a bowling group, we didn't execute our plans the way we wanted to. Polly came in the end and showed us how it is done. 

Obviously, if you chase that, it would have been a really good chase. The openers gave us a really good chance with the start they gave. Quinny and Monank played well. We lost it in the middle. Kudos to them, they bowled well. 

Tough question. We have played some tough games, easily could have been at a different position in this tournament. It is challenging other teams have been playing really nice. We just need to go back and reflect. Plan again, four or five games and hopefully we can get a better result."

Power Hitter of the Game: Matthew Short

Matthew Short (Player of the Match & San Francisco Captain): "It is always nice to get an award, but I am more happy with the win. Five wins on a roll, I can't be more happier. 

Look, to be honest, it is not that difficult out there. We have put amount of work behind the boys from behind the scenes. And then, a big shoutout to Corey Anderson, who led the boys in the first few games.

Coming into today's game, we lost the toss, and if we had won, I wanted to bat second. The wicket looked a bit dry, looked different to the wicket he played on the last time. So, let's be honest, we played better than we thought we would. Yeah, massive credit to the ground staff as well. Breeze also came into the shorter side, and the batters worked smartly. It was a smart game all-round. 

Credit to our bowling unit. It happened in the last game as well. TSK got off to a flyer, so did MI tonight, but they just kept their head high. Obviously, Quinny and Patel got off to a flyer, but we knew if we took a couple of wickets, then it would become hard for them. Credit to our guys, as in the end, they bowled well and hang in there. Very happy. 

There is no reason why he shouldn't continue playing in this way. Before the tournament, we sat down as a group and questioned ourselves as to why couldn't we win every game, and then win the tournament? But we are going to take one game at a time, as there's a very short turnaround. Now, we play Seattle in a couple of days. Thank you."

It was another run-fest in Dallas. San Francisco Unicorns were just too hot to handle for the MI New York. Batting first, they posted 246/4. It was always going to be a tough run chase and despite a good opening stand from Monank Patel and Quinton de Kock, the New York-based franchise fell 47 runs short of the target in the end.
