MINY won by 17 runs
5:40 AM IST, 7:10 PM Local Time: MI New York win by 17 runs! Wow! 30 minutes back if I had told you that this is what the result will be like, you would have laughed. Well, that is exactly why we love the game. It just proves us wrong time and again. The Seattle Orcas have made a mess of something they owned. MI New York have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

Seattle Orcas won the toss and elected to bowl first. They started off well as in the first 11 overs of the MINY innings, wickets fell at regular intervals without the scoring rate being too great. Monank Patel (21) was the only batter in the top 4 who went past 20. MINY were struggling at 73-5 in around 11 overs and needed a big partnership to bail them out.

That came in the form of Kieron Pollard and Tajinder Singh. Both the batters initially took their time before exploding into the Orcas' attack and changing the fate of the innings. They added 80 runs for the 6th wicket before Pollard was dismissed for a fine 54 off 33. Tajinder didn't get bogged down by that and continued on his merry way as he added 66* off 27 balls. That remarkable recovery pushed the MINY to 179/8 in their 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers for the Orcas were Marcus Stoinis (5/46) and Ottneil Baartman (2/18).

The chase started on an even note as at the end of 10 overs the Seattle Orcas were 80/1. They had lost Shayan Jahangir in that phase who tried to sneak a run but was undone by some great fielding. A fine partnership between Matthew Breetzke and Tim Seifert was brewing. Post the 10 over mark, both batters tore into the bowling and scored briskly. They added 117 runs for the second wicket and brought the equation down to 36 off 26 before a stunning collapse took place.

Firstly, Kieron Pollard broke the massive stand by cleaning up Matthew Breetzke for 44. Romario Shepherd bowled a mind-blowing 17th over and gave just 1 run in it.
Rushil Ugarkar reaped rewards of that in the next over as he dismissed Shimron Hetmyer for just 2. The pressure mounted further on the Orcas as Shepherd returned to bowl the 19th and dismissed Marcus Stoinis for 8. He induced the killer blow by removing the main wicket of Tim Seifert off the last ball of that over as the Kiwi walked back with 88 to his name.

The equation came down to 22 runs to win off 6 balls.
It was a very difficult task for Dasun Shanaka and Ali Sheikh against the experienced Pollard as the Orcas fell short by 17 runs. The pick of the bowlers were Kieron Pollard (2/9) and Romario Shepherd (2/13).
Marcus Stoinis (Seattle Orcas Captain): "[When did they feel the match slipped away from them?] Not really. I think we were in the game right till the end. I think we were in the front seat when Seifert and Matty were batting. Just shows us how quick the game changes. I don't think we bowled smart enough towards the end. I don't think we took responsibility with the bat or whatever it was. Yeah, pretty disappointing that one.

[What was the turning point?] I think Sheppy bowled two pretty good overs that changed the game. So yeah, I think it was a mixture of good bowling and poor batting.

[What is the road ahead?] Well, we win tomorrow and we are through."
Time for the post-match presentations...
Power Hitter of the Day: Tajinder Singh
Play of the Day: Kieron Pollard
Player of the Match: Tajinder Singh
Tajinder Singh (POTM): "[What worked well for him today?] First of all, I would like to thank the team management. I would like to thank God for giving me this chance. Last night I had a chat with Pollard. That worked well for me. He advised me about how to execute on certain tracks and conditions. So yeah, thank you to him.

[Was the wicket slow?] I think when I went in to bat it was a touch slow. Pollard was already in there. He told me that if I bat for 4-5 overs, it shall get easy for me to strike in the backend of the innings. I listened to him and it worked.

[On his run out] I would like to thank our fielding coach for that who gave us all that training.

I would like to dedicate this man of the match award to my brother who passed away in January. He has always been my first coach, and this is for him."
Nicholas Pooran (MI New York Captain): "[On defending the total] We are a very optimistic team. When we defend low totals, we always back our bowlers to bail us out. We understand the conditions well here. T20 is never over. Maybe we lacked a little steam in the middle. However, our West Indian combo of Sheppy and Pollard bailed us out. There were some pressure moments there. However, it was very pleasing to see how we closed out the match there.

[Was Kieron Pollard really injured or was it a tactical ploy to walk of the field?] Umm. I guess you can ask that to him. Though I think he is carrying a niggle in that shoulder, so he needs to look after that. He is amazing for us. There is a reason why he has the most number of T20 runs. In my opinion, he is the best T20 batter in the world. Once again, he batted with great responsibility in that middle phase and got us to a respectable total. Not only that, but he also built a fine partnership with Tajinder there. To see a local player come out there and perform is very pleasing. We have the belief in him inside the change room and happy he could execute today. All in all, two important points for us."
What a thriller have we witnessed here in Dallas. With MLC 2026 moving into the climax, we can expect plenty more games like that. For now, you can switch dabs and join the second game of the day between San Francisco Unicorns and LA Knight Riders.

On this note, I, Manan Mehta, would like to take your leave on behalf of my colleagues Ninaad Dixit and Bishal Mandal. B-byeee!!!
