6:46 AM IST, 6:16 PM Local Time: Brampton Blitz have won this game unexpectedly quite easily by nine wickets. It was just raining sixes from their openers, Martin Guptill and Will Smeed. They made this chase look like a cakewalk. With this thumping victory, they now qualify for the finals and will play against the Montreal Royal Tigers for the title later in the day.
Batting first, Masters skipper Sikandar Raza and opener Leus du Plooy stitched a magnificent 70-run partnership for the second wicket. Du Plooy scored a brilliant 20-ball 43, and Raza stormed to a 13-ball 29. However, some brakes were put on their innings by Blitz leggie Piyush Chawla, who picked up three wickets in quick succession. Still, Masters made sure they didn't make a mess of the start as contributions from lower-order batters powered them to an excellent 148.
The total seemed enough for a big game like a semi-final. However, no one knew that we would be witnessing perhaps one of the best batting performances of the tournament. Blitz openers Martin Guptill and Will Smeed smashed every bowler out of the park from the first over itself. Guptill departed for 79 (25) while Smeed stayed unbeaten at 63 (21). The duo stitched a partnership of 141 runs and smashed 19 sixes in total.
With this win, Blitz will be fancying their chances to win the Canada Super 60 2025 final later tonight and lift the trophy.
