8:35 PM 5:05 PM Local Time: A comfortable win for Scotland in the opening match of the three-match T20I series, as they outclassed Namibia by seven wickets with seven balls to spare to take a 1-0 lead.

Earlier, Namibia recovered well to post 159/7 after being in serious trouble at 75/5. Gerhard Erasmus led from the front with a crucial half-century, anchoring the innings and guiding the recovery.

After choosing to bat first, Namibia had a poor start, losing three wickets inside the powerplay as Scotland’s mix of pace and spin troubled the top order. Louren Steenkamp attempted a counterattack with 27, but his dismissal added to the pressure as wickets continued to fall.

Reduced to 94/6 in the 14th over, Erasmus found support from Ruben Trumpelmann, and the pair added an important 42-run stand. Erasmus carried the innings almost single-handedly before falling in the 19th over, but his effort helped Namibia reach a competitive total.

Jasper Davidson and Mark Watt bagged a couple of wickets each for Scotland, while Safyaan Sharif, Zainullah Ihsan, and Oliver Davidson celebrated a solitary wicket.

In reply, George Munsey set the tone early with a fluent 44, while Brandon McMullen anchored the chase with a steady unbeaten 44.
Finlay McCreath chipped in with 16 in a brisk opening stand of 53 runs, providing a solid platform in the powerplay. After a couple of wickets in the middle phase, skipper Richie Berrington played a crucial hand, scoring 34 off 21 balls and stitching a match-defining 67-run partnership with McMullen to take the game away from Namibia.

Despite picking up three wickets, Namibia struggled to contain the scoring, with Max Heingo being the standout bowler with two wickets. Scotland maintained control throughout the chase and sealed a convincing victory with a composed batting effort.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.......

Player of the Match: George Munsey
George Munsey (Player of the Match): "[On receiving POTM] Happy to contribute, happy to play some cricket finally.

[On the performance] Well, lots of opportunities, trying to play some good cricket, give our best, and enjoy our time here."
Gerhard Erasmus (Namibia Captain): "[Where do you think went wrong today?] Well, we obviously didn’t get enough runs on the board. It’s a very good wicket, a nice ground with a good outfield and relatively short straight boundaries, so 159 wasn’t really where we wanted to finish. We tried to make something happen with the ball, but we probably didn’t lay a strong enough foundation to push towards 170 or 180.

[What are some of those areas that you might think need work on?] I think it’s about getting impact and contributions from all 11 players. I thought our young player, Max Heingo, bowled superbly today, and the way JC Balt finished the innings was really impressive. It’s great to see those youngsters step up, and hopefully, if the rest of us can chip in around those impactful performances, it will lead to more wins."
Richie Berrington (Scotland Captain): "[On the win] Yeah, it was a very good performance. Firstly, it was good with the ball; to concede not many runs, our boys did a very good all-round show.

[On the impact] Firstly, with the powerplay, we bowled well, continuously took wickets, and then chased it down. Munsey and McCeath gave a good start, and then Brandon McMullen put up a show. [Impressed with the debutant?]

Yeah, great to have someone like him, it's great for his exposure, he did his best. Plenty of learning for him, hope he keeps getting better and keep doing the good work."
