Akshaya: Dear Namibia, you don't qualify for the next round if you defeat Sri Lanka! You need to beat other teams as well. But kudos to David Wiese for the innings he played tonight! Hats off! He is in tears for not being able to repeat his heroics from last year.
5:01 PM IST |  UAE won the toss in the final match of Group A. They opted to bat first after the coin turned in their favour.

They got off to a slow start as the Namibian batters looked to take the pace off the ball and bowl into the wicket from the very beginning. Muhammad Waseem held one end and scored a gritty half century. He was well aided by Rizwaan at the other end.

Waseem was dismissed in the 15th over of the innings when the score of the team was 97/2. At this stage Basil Hameed walked in and started to build the momentum for his team. In the last 5 overs UAE scored 51 runs and posted a fighting total of 148 runs in their 20 overs. Rizwan remained unbeaten at 43 runs off 29 deliveries. The pick of the bowlers for Namibia was B Scholtz, who bowled four overs and conceded 22 runs for 1 wicket.

The Namibian team needed to just win this match in order to qualify for the super 12. But the start to their innings was very unstable to say the least. They lost 3 wickets within the first 6 overs for just 34 runs.

The fall of wickets continued as they lost two more in the 8th over. By this time their innings was completely derailed and the target was looking way too far to be achieved. As the halfway mark approached, Namibia was 53/5 .

After this they lost two more wickets in the 13th over from Zahoor, there was nothing much left in the match. With 64 runs needed off the last 30 balls the onus was on David Wiese to take Namibia through.

Wiese did not disappoint his fans and played a blinder of a knock. He scored 55 off 36 balls and took his team to the brink of an unbelievable victory. But his dismissal on the 4th ball of the final over meant that Namibia fell short of the target by 8 runs. In the end Namibia managed to reach 141 runs in their 20 overs.

With that the Netherlands and Sri Lanka qualified for the Super 12 stage.
First ever T20I win for UAE in the World Cups.
Muhammad Waseem | Player of the Match: "It was difficult to bowl at the death overs. I was bowling for the first time in the tournament. Though it was my first over, I had confidence in my skills. I executed well. The thought was to bowl fuller and make them hit to the longer boundaries. The way Zahoor bowled in this match was excellent. Credits to him. Yeah, to be honest, we prepared well and should have won the last two matches. Quite disappointed that we didn't win. Yes, happy with this win anyway."
Gerhard Erasmus | Namibia Captain: "Yeah, I thought we did well in patches to keep them under 150. In the end, it was a good score, a bit too higher than the par. We didn't bat well. Yeah, that's the art of tournament cricket. Everything depends on the momentum. Once it turned against us after the first game we lost, we didn't come back. He (Wiese) is a class player. He shares his experiences with us. He played well to bring the match towards us from nowhere. A player to watch and learn from. We couldn't make it to the next round. Thank you."
CP Rizwan | UAE Captain: "First of all, I thank almighty Allah. First victory for us, and I am happy with it. Tonight, we played together and did well as a group. We were doing well in patches in the last two matches, but tonight it was different confidence going through. It was an instinctive decision to hand the ball to Waseem in the last over. He did well for us in the end. Yeah, we are here to tell the world that we are here to play cricket. We have done it."
That is it from us!  Sri Lanka beat Netherlands to qualify for the next round earlier this morning. And UAE played a team game to outclass Nambia and David Wiese's unbelievable knock to take them along back in the flight. So, Sri Lanka and Netherlands qualify from Group A. While Sri Lanka will feature in Group 1, Netherlands will feature in Group 2.

For now, this is AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Probuddha Bhattacharjee and scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer brought you all the live-action of this thrilling fixture. Tomorrow we will be back with a couple of Group B encounters. Until then, it is cheers!
