That's the end of the game and another comprehensive win for the White Ferns of New Zealand as they trounce the Indias by 63 runs in this rain-reduced game as they go up 4-0 in this 5-match series with a game to spare. India remains winless on this tour of New Zealand.
India never got going in the chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals. They were 19-4 at one stage losing Verma, Bhatia, Mandhana, and Vastrakar very early in the piece. It was Richa Ghosh's 52 off 29 balls and captain Mithali Raj's 30 off 28 balls that gave the total some respectability in what was another shocking batting collapse for the Indian batters as none of the other batters got into double figures here. Mandhana did get to 13, but she was rusty.
It was Amelia Kerr with the ball and bat today. She picked up 3-30 in 3.5 overs with all 3 coming in her final over. Hayley Jensen chipped in with 3 wickets as well. 3-32 in 4 overs. A couple of wickets apiece for Frances Mackay 2-22 in 3 overs and Jess Kerr 2-11 in 4 overs. Rosemary Mair went for 27 runs in 3 overs while Devine bowled just a solitary over for 2 runs.
Earlier in the day, rain delayed the start of the game by 4 hours and 40 minutes, but just in time for a 20-over game. Indian skipper Mithali Raj won the toss and opted to bowl first hoping that her bowlers would take advantage of some moisture on the wicket. But the Kiwis were on fire today. Sophie Devine started it off with 32 off 24 balls at the top of the order. Suzie Bates chipped in with 41 off 26 balls. It was the Amelia Kerr show in the end with the bat as I mentioned as she scored a breathtaking 68 off 33 balls. Amy Satterthwaite chipped in as well with 32 runs off 16 balls.
It was a hard toil and day for the Indian bowlers who did not have Jhulan Goswami for the company as she was rested for this game alongside out-of-form batter Harmanpreet Kaur. Meghana Singh was expensive in her 1-45 in 4 overs and she rolled on her ankle, so she had to be limped off from the field. Renuka Singh ended up with 2-33 in 4 overs. Vastrakar bowled only an over for 12 runs. Rajeshwari Gaekwad was the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of 1-26 in 4 overs. Deepti Sharma went the distance in her four overs going for 49 runs for the loss of one wicket. Sneh Rana's 3 overs accounted for 25 runs for no wickets.
So, New Zealand wins this game quite comfortably by 63 runs to make it 4-0 in the ODI series and 5-0 overall if we count the one-off T20I as well. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation coming your way. It will be an easy choice as to who should be the Player of the Match here.
