9:41 PM IST: A terrific warm up game comes to an end. Both teams will gain a lot out of this and in the end it was Australia who holds their nerve to win by 14 runs. It was a game of ebbs and flows and Australia who almost gave away the match came back well in the death overs to win the contest.
Chasing a massive 352 for the win, Pakistan started well but lost wickets at the wrong time. Imam fell for 16, Fakhar Zaman scored 22. Abdullah Shafique got 12 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed was the real star for Pakistan batting at 4 as he scored 83 off 85 balls. Babar Azam came into bat at Number 6 and was brilliant to watch. He scored a brilliant 90 off 59 balls before retiring himself. He and Iftikhar literally took the Aussies bowlers to the cleaners. Later on Mohammad Nawaz scored 50 off 42 balls. Agha Salman scored 10, Usama Mir scored 15 while Hasan Ali was the last man out for 16. 10 extras given by the Aussie bowlers as Pakistan ended with 337/9 in 47.4 overs.
The Australians used a lot of non-regular bowlers and that helped Pakistan a lot. Marnus Labuschagne got 3 wickets to his name although he was expensive to say the least. Skipper Pat Cummins got a couple of wickets for 34 runs in 6 overs. Mitchell Marsh got a couple of wickets as well. Glenn Maxwell and Sean Abbott got a wicket each as the Aussies just did enough to win the game.
Earlier in the game, Australia won the toss and decided to bat first and got a good workout for the batters as all of them chipped in. David Warner scored 48 off 33 balls while Mitchell Marsh scored 31 off 48 balls. Steve Smith scored 27 off 29 balls. Marnus Labuschagne scored 40 off 31 balls. Alex Carey scored 11. But it was Glenn Maxwell who starred for Australia as he top scored with 77 off 71 balls. Cameron Green scored 50* off 40 balls a crucial innings for him. Josh Inglis scored a breath-taking 48 off 30 balls at the end. 17 extras were given by Pakistan as Australia ended with 351/7 in 50 overs.
It was a tough day for the Pakistan bowlers in the field as lots of them went for runs. A couple of wickets for Usama Mir. A wicket apiece for Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Haris Rauf. Haris was taken to the cleaners today as he went for 97 runs in 9 overs. It was a hard day in the office for the Pakistan bowlers.
