3:30 PM IST, 3:00 PM Local Time | Bangladesh create history to win their first ever Test match in Pakistan! They do so by chasing down a small target of 30 runs with all the wickets in hand! A commendable performance from the Tigers to down the hosts and create a moment they will remember for the rest of their lives.
It all started 5 days ago when Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first, and after an initial flurry of wickets, Saim Ayub stabilized Pakistan's first innings. Then came the marathon 240 run partnership for the 5th wicket between Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan. Saud Shakeel eventually got dismissed for 141 runs in 261 balls. While, Rizwan carried his bat to end up unbeaten on 171 runs off 239 balls, which eventually led to Pakistan declaring for 448/6 in the first innings.
Bangladesh's reply to that was even stronger. Led by Mushfiqur Rahim's mammoth 191 runs off 341 balls and valuable half-centuries from Shadman Islam (93 runs off 183 balls), Mominul (50 runs off 76 balls), Litton Das (56 runs from 78 balls) and Mehidy Hasan (77 runs from 179 balls), Bangladesh registered 565 all-out in their first innings to take a lead 117 run lead.
While nothing happened for the bowlers through the first 4 Days of the Test, the last session on Day 4 offered some movement for Bangladesh bowlers to eek out the wicket of Saim Ayub. Pakistan began the day on 23/1, and Bangladesh still had a lot of work to do if they were to win.
Hasan Mahmud opened the floodgates with the wicket of Shan Masood early on Day 5, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz followed it up with 4/21, and with Shakib's 3/44, they did the unthinkable and bundled Pakistan out for 146! From there on, a short target of 30 runs was chased down easily within 6.3 overs to win the contest!
