1:18 AM IST: What a game we have had here in Lahore. The pendulum swung from one way to another and in the end, Jimmy Neesham held his nerve to give New Zealand a tense 4-run win to keep them alive in the series. The series is 2-1 in favour of Pakistan as Iftikhar nearly pulled it off for his side.
Chasing 164 to win the series, Pakistan got off to a bad start as they lost their openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan early. Fakhar Zaman struggled as well in his stay at the wicket. All the batters struggled and the game looked dead and buried. But Iftikhar Ahmed played an amazing innings as his breath-taking 60 off 24 balls nearly pulled it off for Pakistan. Faheem Ashraf played his part for his 27 off 14 balls and fell at the end with the visitors holding their nerves in the end.
A couple of wickets for Adam Milne and Rachin Ravindra. Jimmy Neesham held his nerve and ended with 3/38 in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Matt Henry and Ish Sodhi who kept the run rate under check as they gave nothing away. They were tested today and the Kiwis came out on top.
Earlier in the evening, the Kiwis won a good toss and decided to bat first on a used pitch. They lost Chad Bowes early for 7 while Will Young fell for 17. Skipper Tom Latham anchored the innings with his 64 off 49 balls. Daryl Mitchell chipped in with 33 off 26 balls. Mark Chapman scored 16 off 9 balls. Jimmy Neesham scored 10 off 6 balls while Ravindra was unbeaten on 8* off 6 balls as New Zealand ended with 163/5 in 20 overs.
A couple of wickets apiece for Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf who was impressive in the death overs, to say the least. The other wicket fell to Shadab Khan. The other bowlers came back with wicketless figures.
So, a win by 4 runs for New Zealand as they make it 2-1 in Pakistan's favour in the series score line. Stick around for the presentation ceremony starting soon.
