5:07 PM IST & Local Time: That brings an end to the contest! It’s a commanding performance from Tamil Nadu. They bowl out Puducherry for 209 to seal a comprehensive 101-run victory and cap off a dominant all-round display.
Earlier in the day, Aman Khan won the toss and elected to field, but Tamil Nadu made full use of the batting-friendly surface in Ahmedabad. Openers Sai Sudharsan and skipper Narayan Jagadeesan provided a solid platform, adding 83 runs for the first wicket. Sudharsan fell just short of a half-century for 48, but Jagadeesan carried on to score a composed 67, setting the tone for a strong innings.
The momentum was maintained by Pradosh Ranjan Paul, who top-scored with a fluent 73 off 79 balls, laced with six boundaries and a six. Baba Indrajith chipped in with a brisk 42 off 37 deliveries, while Sunny Sandhu’s explosive cameo of 31 off just 14 balls gave Tamil Nadu the perfect finish. Their collective effort helped Tamil Nadu post an imposing 310/7 from their 50 overs.
In reply, Puducherry made a steady start with openers Vedant Bhardwaj and Neyan Kangayan putting on a 67-run stand to lay a solid base for the chase. Kangayan was the pick of the batters for Puducherry , playing a fluent knock of 60 from 68 balls to keep the required rate in check early on. However, during the middle overs the boundaries dried up and the pressure mounted, leading to regular wickets. After the second drinks break, Tamil Nadu’s bowling spearhead Gurjapneet Singh turned the game decisively by striking twice in consecutive deliveries.
The game swung firmly in Tamil Nadu’s favour as they wrapped up the match in emphatic fashion, bowling Puducherry out for 209. Gurjapneet Singh led the attack brilliantly and finished with impressive figures of 4/32. In the end, Tamil Nadu sealed a convincing 101-run victory.
