9:08 PM IST, 7:38 PM Local Time: Ferocious hitting from impact player Sherfane Rutherford sealed the chase in style, as his explosive unbeaten 66 off just 22 balls powered Aspin Stallions to victory by 7 wickets with 7 balls left, booking their spot in the grand finale.
Earlier, after being sent in to bat, Quetta Qavalry were restricted to 102/6 by the Aspin Stallions. The innings started sluggishly, with the openers managing just 9 runs in the powerplay and Evin Lewis departing for a 5-ball 1. Muhammad Waseem (17), Andries Gous (26) and Liam Livingstone (25) showed promise but couldn’t convert their starts, and the lower middle order offered little resistance. As a result, Quetta could only reach 102 in their 10 overs.
Binura Fernando (2/14) and Karim Janat (2/9) were outstanding with the ball, combining for four wickets, while Ashmead Nedd chipped in with one.
In reply, Aspin Stallions were jolted early as Andre Fletcher (1) and Avishka Fernando (6) departed cheaply, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz found it tough to accelerate. However, the impact player, Sherfane Rutherford, came out all guns blazing and provided the necessary impetus to the innings, shifting the momentum in Stallions’ favour in a jiffy. Rutherford forged a 64-run stand with Gurbaz (19) for the third wicket and continued the carnage until the finish. His blistering, unbeaten 66 off just 22 balls sealed the chase comfortably, as Stallions cruised home with 7 deliveries to spare.
Mohammad Amir (1/5) and Jason Holder (1/22) were the only wicket-takers for Quetta, while the rest of the attack leaked runs at regular intervals. Despite a promising start, they couldn’t maintain control and ultimately failed to defend the total.
Stay tuned for the presentation.......
