9:08 PM IST, Local Time: A one-sided win for Saurashtra as they cruise into the finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a magnificent nine-wicket win against a strong Punjab side in Bengaluru! Vishvaraj Jadeja starred with career-best 165* with skipper Harvik Desai and Prerak Mankad scoring half centuries.
Desai spun the coin in his favor and elected to bowl first. It wasn't a great outing for the bowlers in the first half of the Punjab innings but Chetan Sakariya (4/60) turned things around and helped dismiss Punjab for 292 with Anmolpreet Singh top scoring with 100.
Saurashtra got off to a stellar start which was required to chase down the steep total. Vishvaraj Jadeja and skipper Desai added 172 runs for the first wicket with the captain hitting 64 in 63 deliveries. It was also the 3rd 100+ opening stand between this pair in the last 4 games.
Gurnoor Brar in his second spell got Punjab their first breakthrough as Desai smashed one straight to Naman Dhir at point. Vishvaraj found Prerak Mankad's support and added 121 unbeaten runs with the seasoned campaigner to take Saurashtra to a famous win.
Jadeja moved to his third List A ton and outscored his previous best. He was also dropped by Nehal Wadhera in the deep for 120. His knock comprised of 18 fours and 3 maximums.
Brar picked up the only wicket to fall with Naman Dhir (0/20 in 3.3), Sanvir Singh (0/29 in 5) and Mayank Markande (0/36 in 6) the only bowlers managing to keep their economy rate below a-run-a-ball in what was a magnificent batting display from Vishvaraj.
Saurashtra will now face Vidarbha in the finals on Sunday at the same venue.
