11:28 PM IST and 9:58 PM Local Time: Dubai Capitals win by 63 runs! That got over a bit too soon as the troika of Dubai Capitals spinners, spun a web around the Sharjah Warriorz batters! Second win for the Capitals and they lift themselves from last to second last in the points table!
The Dubai Capitals were put into bat by the Sharjah Warriorz. Sediqullah Atal was up to the task as he played a gem of an innings right at the top. The conditions were not that straightforward as the ball was sticking in the surface. He lost partners at regular intervals but himself stayed pretty solid.
The actual acceleration for the Capitals came in when at 111/4 Mohammad Nabi joined Atal. Atal reached his 50 in fine fashion. He eventually was dismissed for 66. What looked like a 160 total was pushed to 180 by Nabi's 19 ball 38. He took full toll of the death overs. The pick of the bowlers for the Warriorz was Taskin Ahmed who took 3/40 in his 4 overs.
With these big boundaries and tricky conditions as dew does not set in so easily in Dubai 180 was always an above par total. The Sharjah Warriorz did not get off to the best start in the chase. They lost their top order in the powerplay with Haider Ali picking up two of three wickets to fall. They were in trouble at 45/3.
Sikandar Raza and James Rew got some partnership going before Raza nailed a slog sweep straight to the deep midwicket fielder. The Warriorz were 84/4 at that point in time. The troika of Mohammad Nabi, Haider Ali and Waqar Salamkheil spun a web around the Warriorz in the middle overs. Captain Shanaka rotated them beautifully and the spinners kept things extremely tight. They took wickets from time to time as well.
Three superb reviews from Shanaka in three back-to-back overs had three not out decisions get overturned to have the Warriorz struggling at 113/8 in no time! The Warriorz were eventually bundled out for 117. The pick of the bowlers for the Dubai Capitals were Waqar Salamkheil (3-22), Haider Ali (2-19), Mustafizur Rahman (2-13) and Mohammad Nabi (3-23). Big win for the Capitals and they owe it to Nabi and the bowlers!
