The bowling side wanted to review the wide call, but we’re hearing that they cannot take the review at this stage and can only challenge it when play resumes. A rather strange situation. The final delivery of the fifth over was called wide, so if the game is reduced to a five-over shootout, Trichy Grand Cholas will have to face that final delivery.

The action resumed and the match was reduced to 13-overs per-side. Rajkumar scored a quickfire 38* off 22 along with Sundar (3*) before rain arrived and halted the match again, with Grand Cholas racing to 50/1 after five overs. No further play was possible as the rain had the final say in Qualifier 1, with the umpires deciding to draw curtains on this fixture. As a result, Madurai Panthers booked a place in the final, thanks to their pole position in the points table at the end of the league stage.
The Panthers opted to bowl first. K Rajkumar and skipper J Suresh Kumar opened the batting for the Grand Cholas. Suresh Kumar fell cheaply on one in the third over but Rajkumar kept scoring at a brisk rate. Rain arrived and the game was paused during the third over.
