12:03 AM IST and 8:34 PM Local | Winning runs from Danielle Nicole Wyatt-Hodge, and she does it in style to complete her 50 in just 31 balls. England Women have toppled the home team, South Africa, by nine wickets in the third T20I to win the series by a margin of three-zero.
After winning the toss, the tourists asked the South Africans to bat first. The top order failed to deliver against England's top guns. The Proteas women lost four of their wickets inside the powerplay at the score of 42, which soon became 45/5.
However, Nadine de Klerk and Nondumiso Shangase revived the SA innings with their courageous effort with the bat. The duo shared 52 runs for the sixth wicket, helping the side go past the 100-run mark. Eventually, South Africa were toppled for 124.
Charlie Dean and Lauren Bell were the pick of the bowlers, taking three and two wickets, respectively.
Later in the chase, the English opener of Maia Bouchier and Danielle Nicole Wyatt-Hodge gave the side a perfect foundation with their 56-run partnership. After Bouchier’s dismissal, Sophia Dunkley came out in a positive mode and smashed the bowlers in all corners of the park.
Both Wyatt-Hodge (53*) and Dunkley (24*) got a couple of chances during their blitz. But they never gave up and stitched an unbeaten 72-run stand as the tourists won the game by nine wickets and 51 balls to spare.
