SA-W won by 8 wickets
8:28 PM IST, 4:58 PM Local Time | South Africa Women seal a dominant victory to take a 2-0 lead in this 5-match WT20I series! They win the clash by 8 wickets against the current WODI champions!

South Africa Women won the toss and elected to bowl first!
After a solid start from Shafali Verma (57 runs) on her 100th appearance, the Indian batting lineup collapsed from 99/3 in 12.4 overs to 147 all out by the end of the innings.

Chloe Tryon led the charge with the figures of 3/22 from 4 overs, and she was aptly supported by Tumi Sekhukhune's 3/31 from 4 overs. Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululuko Mlaba secured a wicket each to round up a good bowling effort from the hosts.

Come the chase, India Women did not start well with the ball, and it allowed Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus to settle in and break the back of this chase with a 106-run opening partnership. Laura Wolvaardt set the pace in the partnership with an eventual score of 54 runs off 37 balls. While Sune Luus played the perfect foil, ending up with 57 runs off 46 balls.

Shreyanka Patil dismissed both the openers in her final 2 overs, but it was too little too late for India. Tazmin Brits was dropped twice in the field, and in the end, she stayed unbeaten on 20 runs off 17 balls, and with Annerie Dercksen in two at 12 runs off 7 balls, the duo guided their team over the finish line with 17 balls to spare.

All in all, a disappointing outing for India Women, and it leaves them with a mountain to climb in the remainder of this series. South Africa Women will be happy with the performance today, and will hope they can seal the series early in the next game.
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony..
Player of the Match: Chloe Tryon
Chloe Tryon (Player of the Match): (On playing at home) “It’s great to play at home. We don’t get to play here often, so it’s special to have my family and friends here and to perform in front of South Africans.

(On what pleased her most about the performance) It was really about the way the team played today. Over the last couple of days, one of my teammates said one of us would be Player of the Match, and I’m happy I could do it for him today.

(On the help from the bowling coach) He has been a big help to us, especially since we arrived here. His knowledge has really helped us as a bowling unit. It’s mainly his experience. He understands the basic things I need to improve. New Zealand wasn’t a great tour for me personally or for the team, so the technical work we did over the last few days really helped. He helped me understand my fields better. Being from here, he also knows the conditions well. It’s been nice to find some rhythm, learn a few tricks, and I’m happy it worked out today.”
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): "(On batting first in first 2 T20Is) We were not able to contribute with the bat, we didn't bat well in both games in the last 10 overs. We need to rethink our approach. Bowling-wise, the power play is not going our way; it's tough, but as a team, we have to come together and improve upon this.

(On batting) When you can't hit your shots, rotating the strike is important. We spoke about this approach, but we couldn't execute it. You have to move on and try to do better in the next game.

(On Shafali) She has been a great talent for us, attacking batter and does the job for us in the power play. Hopefully, she will keep doing that.

(On upcoming games) In a new place, we go with a positive approach. The format is such that things don't work sometimes, but we have to stick together as a group, and use the break of 2 days to improve on our performance."
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Women Captain): (On how complete the team performance was) “It was pretty good in all three aspects of the game. We fielded well, took some tough catches, even though one or two chances went down. Then it was a great bowling performance to restrict them to that total.

(On restricting India after their strong start) Considering the start they had in the Powerplay, to keep them to that score was really pleasing. Then we got a great start with the bat, which put us ahead in the game.

(On strong death bowling in the series) It’s really nice to see because that was an area we struggled with in the last series. To turn that around has been excellent. The bowlers identified that slower balls into the wicket were working well, communicated well as a group, and executed nicely.

(On the team’s game awareness and run-out of Harmanpreet) We were very happy with that dismissal. It’s something we’ve spoken about a lot - being more aware, present, and switched on in the field. It’s nice to see those small things showing up in matches.

(On being 2-0 up and the chance to win the series) It’s an exciting position to be in. We know India are a world-class side and they’ll come back strongly with plans for the next game, so we need to switch off, recover, and be ready again.”
