10:12 PM IST & 5:42 PM Local Time: Southern Brave have produced an absolute masterclass to seal a thrilling 24-run victory at the Ageas Bowl. They held their nerve brilliantly under pressure, especially in the crucial stages of the chase, to keep the fortress intact.
Earlier in the day, Southern Brave, after being put into bat, made a confident start to their innings. Lizelle Lee looked in magnificent touch right from the outset and was the key architect behind the hosts' strong beginning. Alongside Maia Bouchier, she dominated the powerplay as Southern Brave raced to 44/0 after the first 25 balls. The opening partnership grew into a valuable 68-run stand before Alice Capsey finally provided the breakthrough shortly after the strategic timeout, dismissing Lizelle Lee for a well-made 43. At the halfway stage of the innings, Southern Brave were well placed at 68/1.
Maia Bouchier played an equally important hand, producing a fluent 43 off 28 balls. As the innings progressed, Jemimah Rodrigues added the finishing touches with a valuable unbeaten cameo of 28 off 18 balls, ensuring Southern Brave maintained the momentum in the closing stages. The hosts finished strongly, collecting 14 runs from the final set of the innings to give their total a significant boost. Southern Brave ended with a competitive 140/3 from their 100 balls.
