Dhananjaya de Silva (Sri Lanka Captain): "No idea about it (on becoming the 8th Sri Lankan captain to win a Test match on captaincy debut). Thank you. It is quite a tough task to lead a team which has many experienced players in it. It was a challenge, but I enjoyed it.
It was very challenging to bat with them bowling well. Yeah, I think Angelo and I got out in the last part of day 2. I thought it could have been the turning point in the game. But our bowlers kept executing the plans and bowled really tight lines and lengths. Afghanistan came back well, but our bowlers stuck to the plans and didn't give away many runs.
That's the way to play Test cricket, keep it tight, once you get one wicket, you can get 2-3. (on playing 3 pacers and 1 spinner) There was grass on this wicket, and two spinners wouldn't have been ideal on this pitch. Angelo was tired, it was definitely my fault (on run-out), I could have stayed on the crease. I should have realised that he was batting on 100."
