4:30 PM: The rain has picked up its pace. It's a proper heavy downpour in Colombo, it is very dark with the floodlights in full effect. Torrential - to sum it up.

4:51 PM: Still raining heavily in Colombo but an official update is expected in the next 10 minutes. No activity to report on the ground.

5 PM: Huge puddles have started to form but the entire field has been covered, outfield shouldn't be affected. It is still raining, some players are seen in the dug out with the rest in the dressing rooms. Few spectators patiently wait in the stands like us. It continues to rain torrentially.

5:30 PM: The rain has eased just a little bit but not enough for the groundstaff to react. Still no movement on the field.

5:34 PM: And here comes the official word from Colombo. The match has been abandoned due to rain. It continues to rain at R. Premadasa Stadium and the match officials have decided to call off the game. Both captains shake hands and that marks the end of this contest. Both sides will share a point each.
