Sunil Narine (Player of the Match): "[How would you describe your bowling tonight?] I think plans came out and execution was on point. We had a good meeting, had a good chat. Tried to attack in the Powerplay to pick wickets and we did that well as a team.
[How is it bowling more overs with the new ball] It is a plan Bravo has, he thought about in the MLC. It was successful. We are not strong in terms of our pace attack with experience. But we still have a great bowling unit. Just continuation, it is something they asked and trying to contribute in whichever way I can.
[How were the conditions] Yeah, it was very spin-friendly. You could miss full or short, it was slow and was spinning as well. So, you could attack more.
[Good way to start as defending champions?] Definitely, good way to start the tournament especially coming away from home. You come here and not sure what to expect. The guys were still keen and looking at the game yesterday having game-plans and mindset already."

Jason Holder (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Captain): "(On the conditions for batting) I felt they were a little tricky up front. I thought the ball popped off a length, a bit up and down in the second half as well. So not easy to bat on, not easy to start on. I think it's a wicket that you need to spend some time on in order to accumulate some runs. Maybe in hindsight we probably should have just settled for around 130, 140, and been content with that. I felt that might have been good enough. But it's tough when you're trying to set a total in a new tournament, expecting the wicket to be probably a little bit truer, but unfortunately it wasn't.
(On to settle down as a team) No, we saw a lot of positives tonight. I felt we bowled really well. Kevin Wickham batted well. You know, a few boys looked the part for short periods of time. So I mean, still early days, just one game. Yeah, hard to really decipher a lot from a performance like this, but I think still a lot of learnings to be had.
(On Kevin Wickham) For me, the most impressive thing about him today, especially, is how composed he was. He never looked flustered. For a young player, that's a high-quality sign, and it's a sign he can continue from strength to strength. I just liked the way he went about his innings. He seemed pretty calm. He has his strokes; he's shown that over the last couple of years as well. So just hopefully this will be the start of really good things for him going forward this season."

[Did the surface play as you expected?] We had our doubts. With that being said, it was just experience that made them end up with that situation. Sunil Narine opening the bowling, It probably took them by surprise. Such a world-class player, you have got to expect such performances from him.
[About Terrance Hinds and Dominic Drakes' spells] Proud of them. What stood out about those two today was the discipline. A lot of times, as fast bowlers or as bowlers on the whole, we believe that there is just one way to get wickets. It is clear to see that. When they came in, they were defensive. Most of the time, when new batters came in, we had discussions about whether to attack the stumps or attack the pads or be aggressive just for a couple of balls. After that, we went back to the team plan, which is to go wide or stay straight. They did that perfectly today.
[How is Joshua Da Silva and what was the reason behind pulling him out?] It is early in the tournament. Josh wasn't too well to start with; it was a great effort from him, but we didn't want to push him too far, and something happened – he pulled something. We thought, as a team, it was best to pull him out. And just get Jyd (Goolie) in; in these games it could be tricky, you want to be as clinical as possible. Net run-rate could be a big factor in the Caribbean with rain around. So, all those factors played a part in us pulling Josh out and trying to get the game finished as quickly as possible. Nonetheless, Josh did a brilliant job. He did what we needed at that point in time, and we just decided to safeguard him.
[On Pooran and Pollard] We are definitely looking forward to those guys coming back. I mean, seniority, experience, world-class players and world-class performers. You always want those guys in the team, but we can be a really proud group today that our bench is very strong, or our bench may not have experience, but our bench has discipline. That is all you need in this game. Names don't play cricket; what you do on the day and how you work on the day, and these boys did exactly that. They showed that they are capable, they have the talent and the skill. Most of all, they have the mindset and discipline to go out and do what the team needs."

A rain-hit game finally comes to an end at Arnos Vale Ground. Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders, led by Akeal Hosein in the absence of Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard, have kicked off the 14th season with a good win against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, a team against whom TKR have done well previously. It was a low-scoring game on a tacky surface. Sunil Narine set the game up with a stunning spell in the powerplay.
