10:18 PM IST, 5:48 PM Local time: The Manchester Originals get their second win of the season defeating Northern Superchargers by 40 runs (DLS). Jamie Overton hit a tremendous 83 not out to help Originals score 182/6 in the rain hit encounter reduced to 90 balls. The bowlers then did short work of the Superchargers lineup.
Quick recap to the second innings, Matt Short was off to a flying start adding 49 for the first wicket out of which he scored 37 in 18 deliveries with four fours and 2 sixes. Tom Banton departed soon without any fireworks as Usama Mir bowled a mighty spell removing the top four batters to put the pressure on the chasing side.
Adam Hose followed the duo to the crease with Harry Brook (20 off 14) and Saif Zaib (21 off 16) adding 23 runs for the fourth wicket. Brook was then sent back as Usama returned for his second spell and finished with 4/19.
The bottom order crumbled as Josh Little removed Brydon Carse and Wayne Parnell in quick time. Saif Zaib was sent back by Josh Tongue with only 8 deliveries remaining in the game and the target going beyond reach.
Bowling the final 5 balls, Paul Walter dismissed Adil Rashid and was smacked for three boundaries off the last 3 balls by number 11 Reece Topley (12* off 3). Besides Usama's four wickets, Little got 2 with Tom Hartley, Tongue and Walter getting one apiece.
4 teams are now tied with 5 points on the table with Superchargers maintaining their second position.
