After losing two in a row, they bounce back by beating Sydney Thunder comprehensively by 71 runs. Thunder lose their fourth game this season as they have been completely outplayed tonight in all facets of the game in front of their home crowd.
Chasing a mammoth 203, skipper David Warner opened alongside Matthew Gilkes and both 60 for the opening wicket before the former holed out in the deep on 25. Three balls later, Gilkes fell after a quickfire 19-ball 33. It opened the floodgates for the Scorchers who stormed into the contest.
Cameron Bancroft (2), Sam Billings (0), Daniel Sams (16) and Shadab Khan (4) departed in a quick succession. Sam Konstas tried hard and scored 21 before getting dismissed in the 15th over. The hosts got bundled out on 131 in 17.3 overs to lose the contest by 71 runs.
Joel Paris (2/28), Brody Couch (2/28), Aaron Hardie (2/7) and Cooper Connolly (2/26) picked up two wickets each for the Scorchers. Mahli Beardman (1/27) bowled beautifully as the Scorchers defended the total successfully and got back to winning ways.
Earlier, the Scorchers were inserted to bat. They lost Mitchell Marsh (6), Finn Allen (11) and Josh Inglis (13) cheaply and were reeling at 34/3. Skipper Ashton Turner came out all guns blazing and helped his side gain the momentum. He played some magnificent strokes and raced past his fifty in just 22 balls.
Cooper Connolly (28) and Aaron Hardie (28) supported Turner nicely who kept finding boundaries at will and kept Thunder at bay. Turner was left stranded one short of his maiden T20 hundred as his 99* powered the Scorchers to 202/8 at the end of their 20 overs. His knock of 41-ball comprised eight fours and as many maximums.

There have been even contributions all around. The bowlers have done well, different guys have stepped up at different times with the bat. Hopefully we can take momentum to Hobart in a couple of days time.
Our ambition is to play the finals and hopefully lift the trophy. A few players will come into the squad only towards the back end, so hopefully that will bolster us."
