Helm to continue here for another set...Fuller length and he follows the batter. Root misses it on the pads and it rolls away towards the point for a leg bye single.

FOUR!!! Lewis Gregory finishes off in style...The skipper gets the winning strike and Trent Bridge crowd on their feet applauding the fine performance from the men in yellow. Helm bowls fuller on the woods. Pace on that one. Gregory gets behind that one and he drills that one past the bowler and no chance for the fielder at long-on as it scoots away towards the fence. First win for the Rockets over the Phoneix in this competition.

AND TRENT ROCKETS HAVE COMPLETED A DOMINANT VICTORY OVER THE BIRMINGHAM PHOENIX BY 6 WICKETS! A complete performance by the home team here to defeat last year's finalists!

Birmingham Phoenix got off to a rocky start after they lost their opener Will Smeed early in the first innings, but Moeen Ali and Miles Hammond ensured they didn't lose wickets in a heap and laid a good platform for the middle order. After losing Hammond and Bousley in quick succession Liam Livingstone took the matters into his own hands, as he smashed a breezy 47 runs from 27 balls to take his team over the 140 run--mark.

Trent Rockets came out like a team on a mission in the chase, as the intent was clear from their batters to make the most of the power play. After losing Dawid Malan, Colin Munro upped the ante and gave the Phoenix a flying start along with Alex Hales, before eventually giving away his wicket for 36 runs off 22 balls. Thereafter, the partnership of Hales and Root took the game away.

Hales ended up giving away his wicket right at the end, after scoring his maiden The Hundred half-century. Joe Root continued to keep things calm and stayed unbeaten on 34 runs from 26 balls to ensure his team came home safely.

Trent Rockets will have their confidence and morale sky high after this victory, while it's back to the drawing board for Birmingham Phoenix to figure out their problem areas and improve in the next match!
Alex Hales (Match Hero): "The pitch was on the slower side. I struggled a bit early but got settled down in the later part. The ground is smaller in size so it's pretty hard to defend the total here. The crowd last year was fantastic and today also they were great. Joe came in and scored from ball 1 and nice to have him around."
Lewis Gregory | Trent Rockets Captain: "Brilliant performance from the team. Samit is always in your ear wanting to get the ball. The pitch was tricky and the ground has smaller boundaries which makes defending a total difficult. The crowd was fantastic. We got off to a fast start with Malan scoring two boundaries, it's nice to have Root around. He keeps rotating the strike and scored a few boundaries to help the team claim victory."
