1:41 AM IST, 9:11 PM Local Time: That's it. The Trent Rockets emerge victorious tonight and end their campaign on a winning note. On a tricky surface, they chase down 151 successfully and beat the Oval Invincibles by six wickets. The Invincibles still have a chance of qualifying for the final directly but will have to wait for tomorrow's result. For now, the Rockets can celebrate as they give something to cheer for their fans at home.
Chasing 151, the Trent Rockets lost Tom Banton cheaply on six after he survived two major scares in the opening set. Jalex Hales was joined by Joe Root at the crease. Hales played positively and played some lovely strokes against the new ball as the Rockets scored 30 at the end of the powerplay. Hales departed after scoring 35 off 25 balls. Joe Root holed out in the deep on 12.
Tom Alsop along with Rovman Powell started building a partnership for the hosts. Both kept the Invincibles at bay and took their stand past 50. Both teed off and pounced on anything loose. Powell hit some lusty blows and scored 27-ball 45 before falling in the 18th set. Sam Curran was taken out of the attack in the penultimate set because of bowling two waist-high no-balls. Alsop held his nerves and remained unbeaten on 41 off just 24 balls to take the Rockets across the line with six balls to spare.
Earlier, Will Jacks and Dawid Malan gave a good positive start for the Oval Invincibles who elected to bat first. Both played some lovely strokes upfront and put 47 between them before Jacks was trapped in front of the stumps on 30. Jordan Cox joined Malan at the crease who was looking good at the crease. Cox scored 39 off 30 balls before getting cleaned up in the 18th set.
Malan brought up a well-composed fifty off 41 balls. Donovan Ferreira provided the finishing touches to the innings. He played a fantastic cameo of 27 off 10 balls to power his side to 150/3. Malan carried his bat and remained unbeaten on 53. Samuel Cook picked up two wickets for the Trent Rockets whereas Lewis Gregory chipped in with one. The Rockets' batters then contributed and helped them chase down the total successfully and finish the season on a high.
