WFW won by 6 wickets
9:33 PM IST, 5:03 PM Local Time: That’s it. Sarah Bryce has played a match-winning knock here for the Welsh Fire Women. She remains unbeaten on 51 to take her side across the line with two balls to spare. The Welsh Fire Women beat the Trent Rockets Women by six wickets to grab their third win of the Women's Hundred 2024.

Sophia Dunkley and skipper Tammy Beaumont opened for the Welsh Fire Women but both fell cheaply on four and zero respectively. Hayley Matthews and Sarah Bryce looked settled at the crease and started rebuilding the innings. Both stitched a 30-run stand for the third wicket before Matthews got trapped in front of the stumps on 20.

Bryce was joined by Jess Jonassen who looked positive at the crease. She scored a 22-ball 26 before departing in the 14th set. Bryce was unfazed and kept fighting from the other end. She received good support from Geogia Elwiss. Bryce brought up a fantastic fifty and she along with Elwiss stitched a 44-run unbeaten stand for the fifth wicket which took the Welsh Fire Women across the line. Bryce remained unbeaten on 51 whereas Elwiss remained unbeaten on 18 as the Fire Women chased down the total with two balls to spare.

Batting first, the Rockets Women got off to a disastrous start as they lost both their openers Bryony Smith (0) and Grace Scrivens (0) on golden ducks. Natasha Wraith along with skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt led the recovery work. Both put 52 between them before Wraith fell on 28. Nat scored 37 off 26 balls before getting stumped in the 12th set.

Ashleigh Gardner was joined by Heather Graham who came out all guns blazing. Both batters ran hard between the wickets and gained the momentum heading into the death overs. Gardner departed on 31 in the penultimate set. Graham’s unbeaten 27 off 18 balls helped the Rockets Women get to 130/5 at the end of their innings. Jess Jonassen picked up two wickets for Welsh Fire. Sarah Bryce then played a scintillating knock which helped Welsh Fire Women wrap up the chase in the last set.
Hero of the Match: Sarah Bryce
Sarah Bryce (Hero of the Match): "I'm really pleased with the win and to have taken the side over the line. We knew that if we spend time at the crease then the runs would come. There were deep pockets in the ground and we targeted them. We knew that we had done it before and I had that confidence in myself. It will give us a lot of belief as we have won two away games in a row. The girls are gelling well and we are having a great time. It helps us in tight situations on the pitch too."
That brings an end to our coverage of this game. The men's fixture between these two franchises isn't far away. For now, it's time for us to take your leave. This is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Soumarya Dutta and scorer Zeeshan Naiyer. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
