IRE won by 57 runs
11:33 PM IST, 10:03 PM Local Time: Ireland take an unassailable lead in the two-match T20I series against UAE with a 57-run win at the Dubai International Stadium. A brilliant batting performance got the visitors to 178/6 and then an excellent display from spinners helped them defend the total with ease.

Opener Ross Adair top scored with 39, Lorcan Tucker scored 38. Benjamin Calitz (26* off 12) and George Dockrell (22* off 10) provided the finishing touches. Muhammad Arfan (1/20), Haider Ali (2/31) and Junaid Siddique (2/36) starred with the ball for UAE.

The hosts got off to a good start with the skipper Muhammad Waseem and Aryansh Sharma adding 54 runs for the first wicket. Sharma was sent back by Gareth Delany in the 7th over and the Irish bowlers never looked back.

Skipper Waseem top scored with 40 off 37 deliveries with wickets tumbling around him. Only Alishan Sharafu (16) and Arfan (15) scored into double digits. Matthew Humphreys and Gareth Delany finished with identical figures of 3/26. Barry McCarthy picked up a couple of wickets, George Dockrell and Mark Adair picked up a wicket apiece.
Muhammad Waseem (United Arab Emirates Captain): "We gave 20 extra runs. Pitch was good, it was a chaseable score on this ground but we did not bat well. I always try to lead the team from the front and that is the key for me."
Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain): "Always love coming here. Fantastic place, great facilities and we're so thankful to be able to play here and some important games as well. The message was to always be positive. We batted deep so they certainly had the license to keep going throughout the innings. Really happy with 178."

Gareth Delany (Player of the Match): "Just kept the stumps in play as much as we could. Just try to limit their boundary options. Dockrell should be collecting this award. We're kind of gelling at the moment in the spin department. Exciting prospect to play the T20 World Cup in the coming few days."
That's it from our coverage of the first T20I between UAE and Ireland from the Dubai International Stadium! A powerful performance from the Irish side has taken them 1-0 up in the 2-game series just before the T20 World Cup begins in similar conditions. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of scorer Sachin Yadav and statistician Aman. Stay tuned for more action from around the world.
