2:16 AM IST & 9:46 PM Local Time: That's it! A commanding performance from Warwickshire as they hammer Sussex Sharks by 76 runs. The winning momentum continues for Warwickshire as they make it three victories on the bounce.
Earlier in the day, Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bat on a superb batting surface at Edgbaston. Robert Yates gave the hosts a flying start, scoring the bulk of the runs in the Powerplay after the dismissal of Zen Malik in the fifth over. Warwickshire raced to 63/1 at the end of the first six overs.
Yates continued his aggressive approach before departing for 54 off 27 balls. Beau Webster and Sam Hain then took control of the innings with a superb 95-run partnership for the third wicket. Webster contributed 60 from 42 deliveries, while Hain remained unbeaten on 68 off 38 balls as Warwickshire powered their way to an imposing 198/3 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Sussex Sharks made a positive start to the chase. The opening pair laid a solid foundation before Richard Gleeson struck in the fifth over, dismissing Harrison Ward for 23 off 15 balls. Sussex finished the Powerplay strongly, scoring 16 runs in the sixth over to reach 59/1.
However, the momentum shifted immediately after the fielding restrictions ended. Usman Tariq struck in his fourth delivery after coming into the attack, removing George Thomas for 15 off 7 balls. Warwickshire tightened the screws through the middle overs, and with the asking rate climbing, Sussex found themselves at 92/3 at the halfway stage, needing a further 107 runs from 60 balls.
The chase unravelled dramatically in the second half. From a position of 109/4, Sussex suffered a major collapse and were eventually bowled out for 122. Warwickshire completed a comprehensive 76-run victory, making it three wins in a row. Richard Gleeson was the standout performer with the ball, finishing with outstanding figures of 4/19.
