Meredith returns, over the wicket, length delivery, on the stumps, and Baker had no chance of playing at that!

WICKET! BOWLED HIM! The sweet sound of timber for Meredith! He grabs a 4-fer and Manchester have collapsed to a 25 run defeat! A perfect yorker, at the stumps, Baker is no where near with his bat and the bails fly off the top to hand the victory to Welsh Fire! A fiery bowling display to seal the win!

WF won by 25 runs
1:48 AM IST & 9:18 PM Local Time: Welsh Fire outclass Manchester Originals by 25 runs. Riley Meredith was rapid in his spell and bagged four wickets, and three wickets each for David Payne and Chris Green sealed the deal for Welsh Fire. A half-century by Jos Buttler went in vain as he barely got any support from the other end. This was Manchester's third defeat in four games.

Earlier in the game, Manchester Originals won the toss and opted to bowl. Jonny Bairstow bagged a duck. Steve Smith got a start but perished, trying to up the ante.

Welsh Fire kept losing wickets at regular intervals but most of their batters got runs and got the side to a defendable total. Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Steve Smith were the joint top scorers with knocks of 26 each.

Josh Tongue and Scott Currie bagged three wickets each while Sonny Baker and Tom Hartley chipped in with one apiece.

In reply, Manchester Originals got off to a poor start, losing their skipper Phil Salt in the third set. Ben McKinney scored a run-a-ball 10. Jos Buttler fought a lone battle with a half-century but barely got any support from the other end.

Buttler made 57 and the next best contribution came from Lewis Gregory, who made 21 off 19. The Originals had no answers against Riley Meredith, who bagged four wickets.

David Payne and Chris Green picked up three wickets apiece to help Welsh Fire to their first win of the season.

Chris Green (Player of the Match): "It was a lot of fun. The last 2 games, the support has been fantastic, we missed out on winning the last one but the crowd has been great.

The message from Abell in the timeout was that 130 was defendable. There was a bit of hold for the spinners. So, if we bowl well and start well we can win. Riley Meredith was fantastic and he should be here with the ball.

Anytime you have someone bowl in the high 80s, that rattles the batters and I am glad that I don't have to face him. As a group we spoke about not playing our best cricket but still getting close, and tonight was a polished performance. This is just the type of win we need to boost our confidence and our objective remains to play good cricket in future."
