WIW won by 4 wickets (DLS METHOD)
West Indies Women go 1-0 up in the three-match ODI Series against South Africa as they thrash them by 4 wickets in a rain-hit encounter.

Earlier, West Indies Women won the toss and opted to bowl first. South Africa Women could only manage to score 232/9 on the back of Tazmin Brits and Nadine de Klerk’s knocks of 57 & 42, respectively.

Karishma Ramharack and Aaliyah Alleyne bagged 2 wickets apiece.

Chasing 233, the home side got off to a rollicking start by their openers as Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph amassed 70 runs without any loss of wickets after the end of the powerplay.

Ayanda Hlubi then broke the 88-run opening stand and got her side back into the game with 2 more quick wickets.

As a result, West Indies Women were 127-4 at one stage before the rain arrived.

After the stoppage in the play, the target was reduced to 180 runs in 34 overs.

Stafanie Taylor then walked in and played a breezy knock of 30* runs off 34, and ensured that she got her side over the line by 4 wickets remaining.
Time for the post match presentation!
Player of the Match: Qiana Joseph
Qiana Joseph (POTM): "I am very happy with my performance. I want to thank the team management. My skipper told me to keep everything simple. I am putting hard yards in my batting and in my fitness as well."
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Women Captain): "Not our best performance. West Indies came in pretty nicely. They got us in there. I don't think we had an ideal score on the board, but Nadine de Klerk took us there. I think we were swinging to get the momentum our way with the ball. However, there are no excuses. We need to get back with a better performance."
Hayley Matthews( West Indies Women Captain) : " Yeah, we are happy to come out on the winning side. Our fielders probably helped us as well. Hopefully many more runs for me to come. Our bowlers really did their job today.

We spoke about stepping up and Qiana & Stefanie batted really well today. I think the understand of her (Qiana Joseph) role and how it impacts the game."
That's all we have that from the coverage of the match between West Indies Women and South Africa Women of the three match ODI Series 2025.

Till then it is me, Aditya Agarwal signing off, on behalf of Arjun Bhalla and Sahil. BYE, CHEERS!
