Six from the bat of Sanju to seal the deal here for India. With this win, India takes an unbeaten lead of 2-0 in this three-match series. A clinical performance from this Indian side as they outplayed the opposition in all three departments and won the game by 5 wickets. A lot to look after for the home side as they never looked up to the mark against this Indian side.
Chasing 162 on a good batting track of Harare Sports Club. KL Rahul came up the order today as he opened the innings with Shikhar. The comeback with the bat didn't go the way KL Rahul would have hoped for as he was trapped in front of the wickets off the bowling of Victor Nyauchi on the score of 1. The successful opening pair of the first game got in together and started to gather the runs in quick time as Shikhar looked in top form, As he scored 33 from just 21 balls before miscuing the pull straight into the hands of the square leg fielder.
After the departure of Shikhar, Shubman took the charge and played some glorious shots all around as he tapped the fence on 6 occasions. Ishan Kishan who came out to bat at number 4 looked rusty in the middle and failed to get going and eventually dragged one on the woods on his personal score of 6. Shubman after playing excussive shots ended up hitting the short-of-a-length delivery straight into the hands of the third man. Deepak Hooda looked impressive as he took his time and played with real authority but on the score of 25, he was knocked over by Raza. Sanju Samson as expected from him scored 43 runs in 39 balls and took the team over the line as he looked absolutely fluent in the middle.
Earlier in the day, the home side was asked to bat first and they managed to put only 161 on the board. The top order couldn't resist the hostile bowling of the Indian pace trio and they were 31 for 4 at one stage. Sean Williams and Ryan Burl played some sensible cricket as they scored 42 and 39 runs respectively and took them to a total of 161. With the ball for India, Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 3 wickets in his 7 overs. The rest of the bowlers picked up a wicket each and bundled them out on a low score of 161.
So all and all it was a solid performance from men in blue to seal the series in the second game itself. On to the presentations now...
