The intersection of T20 leagues has claimed another casualty as veteran Australian pacer Peter Siddle has been blocked from participating in the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast in England. The 41 year old, who recently made a successful PSL debut for Multan Sultans, finds himself in hot water due to his involvement in an unsanctioned tournament in India earlier this year.

The 'Disapproved' League Controversy

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regulations state that any player who participates in "disapproved cricket" is ineligible for county cricket for the following 12 months. Siddle, along with Samit Patel, featured in the World Legends Pro T20 League in Goa during January and February. Since the tournament was not sanctioned by the BCCI, the ECB has upheld the ban, leaving Nottinghamshire’s Notts Outlaws without their star signing.

Siddle's Stellar Form at 41

This news comes as a blow to Siddle, who has been rolling back the years in PSL 2026. Representing the Multan Sultans, he has scalped eight wickets in seven matches at an economy of 8.53, helping his side sit near the top of the table. His recent Big Bash League (BBL) performance was equally impressive, where he took 16 wickets with a frugal economy of 7.12, proving that age is just a number for the tireless pacer.

Impact on Nottinghamshire

Mick Newell, Nottinghamshire’s Director of Cricket, expressed his deep disappointment: "We were looking forward to having a player of Peter's calibre and experience. We’ll now have to focus our efforts on securing a replacement for the summer." Siddle has a long history in the English circuit, having previously played for Durham, Essex, Lancashire, and Somerset. His exclusion leaves a significant void in the Outlaws' bowling department as they look to build a title-contending squad.
