Born on September 22, 1990, in Anguilla, Jahmar Neville Hamilton embodies resilience and ambition. From a small island with a passion for sport, Jahmar rose through the ranks to represent the West Indies on the international stage—carving out a career built on hard work, versatility, and unwavering belief.

Primarily known as a wicketkeeper-batter, Jahmar's journey into the spotlight began at a remarkably young age. At just 17, he featured for the Anguilla cricket team in the 2007/08 Stanford 20/20 Tournament, marking his T20 debut on one of the region’s biggest domestic platforms. Only months later, in February 2008, he made his first-class debut for the Leeward Islands in a match against Barbados—an early glimpse of the promise he would later fulfil.

By 2013, Jahmar had earned a spot in the Antigua Hawksbills squad for the inaugural Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season, a move that reflected his growing stature in regional cricket. But it was in the longer format where he truly began to flourish. In the 2016–17 Regional Four Day Competition, Jahmar led from the front with the bat—emerging as the top run-scorer for the Leeward Islands and the only player in his side to notch up multiple centuries that season. His performances didn't just anchor innings—they announced him as a key figure in West Indian domestic cricket.

International recognition soon followed. Though initially named in several West Indies Test squads throughout 2018, including series against Sri Lanka, India, and Bangladesh, Jahmar had to wait patiently for his turn on the global stage. That opportunity finally came in August 2019, when he was called up for the second Test against India, replacing an injured Shane Dowrich. On 30 August 2019, Jahmar made his Test debut, fulfilling a dream that had been years in the making.

His international journey continued in white-ball cricket as well. In December 2020, Jahmar was included in the West Indies ODI squad for the tour of Bangladesh, and on 25 January 2021, he proudly earned his first ODI cap. His path to the top wasn’t immediate—but it was a powerful example of staying prepared, staying committed, and never letting go of the dream.

A true multi-talented athlete, Jahmar also represented Anguilla in football, playing in the 2007 CONCACAF U-17 qualifiers—a testament to his natural athleticism and competitive spirit across sports.

Now, in a new chapter of his career, Jahmar Hamilton has been drafted by the San Francisco Unicorns for the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season. As MLC continues to expand the reach of cricket across North America, Jahmar brings with him not just skill, but rich experience and a legacy of representing his island with pride.

Jahmar’s story is one of quiet endurance, late-blooming success, and passionate service to both club and country. From a teenage debutant in regional tournaments to a Test-capped West Indian cricketer and now a face in American franchise cricket—his journey reminds us that greatness isn’t always instant, but it’s always possible.
