Al Amin-Hossain is a right-arm fast bowler, who plays for the Bangladesh national team. He was noticed by one of Bangladesh’s bowling coaches in 2011, and was asked to attend the pace bowlers’ camp in Mirpur.

After working hard on his bowling, Al-Amin made his domestic debut in the same year, playing for Khulna. In his very first domestic season, he took 12 wickets in a match against Chittagong and ripped through their middle and lower order batsmen. Al-Amin impressed everyone with his pace and variations and kept on knocking the selectors door time after time with his scintillating performances.

The following year, the pacer was selected in the Bangladesh A squad to face England Lions. He was at his devastating best, picking up four wickets, including that of Joe Root and James Vince, and at one stage, the Lions were tottering at 38 for 4, thanks to Al-Amin’s bowling spell.

When New Zealand toured Bangladesh in 2013, the fast bowler  was handed his Test debut in the second match of the series. He had a decent Test match, picking up a solitary wicket, but troubled the Kiwi batsmen time after time.

Al-Amin got a chance to cement his place in the ODI setup in 2014. He was at his menacing best against West Indies in an ODI series held in Caribbean Island. The pacer registered 10 wickets in 3 matches and hardly bowled any looseners, finishing as the highest-wicket taker for Bangladesh in the series.

In the very same year, he was reported by the ICC for suspected bowling action. However, he was cleared to continue bowling by the ICC, after an independent test that took place in Chennai.

The speedster was in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2015 World Cup. However, mid-way through the tournament, he was sent back home for breaking the team curfew.

Bangladesh Cricket Board carried out the investigations, and came to the conclusion that the allegations against Al-Amin were false.

Over the years, Al-Amin has been in and out of the Bangladesh national setup, due to injuries and disciplinary issues. A really good fast bowler who has not been able to focus on the game and has been involved in several controversies over the years, that led him to struggle with his professional life.
