Shamim Hossain

A left-handed batsman with an ability to chip in with off-break bowling, Shamim Hossain first caught the attention of the selectors in 2017, in a U-17 game for BKSP against West Bengal. The talented batsman scored 226 off 286 deliveries and helped his side to a crushing victory.

The likes of Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim were in awe of him, and the latter even posted a picture of him on social media with the words: “Surely this lad will do well in the future, congratulations”. 

It was his fearless approach that separated Hossain from the other cricketers. He joined the Chandpur Cricket Academy at the age of 12, and since then has been a top performer everywhere he has played. 

In December 2019, Hossain was drafted into the Bangladesh squad for the 2020 U-19 World Cup.

In June 2021, the aggressive batsman was added to the Bangladesh squad for the T20I series against Zimbabwe.

Touted by many as the future of the Bangladesh team, Hossain is a crafty player whose ability to chip in with tight overs during the middle phase of the game has garnered praise from the people back in Bangladesh.
