Mohammed Nazimuddin

A former Bangladeshi top-order batsman, Mohammed Nazimuddin made his first-class debut at the tender age of 16 for the Chittagong division. A stylish top-order batsman, he was the skipper of his domestic side and represented the Tigers in all three formats.

After a string of impressive performances in the domestic circuit for over five years earned him a place in Bangladesh A side. A batting masterclass against touring England playing for the A team, he finally made his debut in a T20I against Kenya in a four-nation tournament between Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda, and Pakistan. He went on to score a 37-ball 43 and guided his team to a resounding victory. In fact, he went one better in the second T20 match he played in, hitting a massive 81 off only 50 deliveries, against a Pakistani attack that consisted of Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Asif, Yasir Arafat, and Shahid Afridi.

On the back of a splendid debut, he was included in the side for the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in South Africa but failed to make an impression, scoring only 12 runs in four matches. He soon made his ODI debut in the home series against South Africa in 2008 but failed to make a mark in the two matches that he played in.

Two years later, he made his Test debut against Pakistan in 2011 and had his moments against the Men in Green. Lacking consistency in the longer-formats, he had a mere average of 13 in the 11 ODI appearances which saw him being dropped from the squad in 2012. Thereafter he failed to make a comeback on the international stage. Constantly featuring in domestic cricket, he appeared in over 200 first-class and List A matches combined and amassed over 10,000 runs for the Chittagong division.
