A promising fast bowler from Barbados, Chemar came into the limelight after winning the 2016 U-19 World Cup, and since then has been under the selector's radar.

The Bridgetown-born was not in the original West Indian squad for the U-19 World Cup, but an unfortunate injury to Obed McCoy prompted the selectors to send Holder as his replacement. The Barbados-based cricketer played his first match of the tournament in a crucial quarter-final clash against a formidable Pakistan side and impressed everyone with his raw pace and hostility, scalping 2 wickets in the process.

The Barbadian picked up 5 wickets in the three matches that he played and formed a deadly bowling partnership alongside Alzarri Joseph.

Two years later, the pacer made his first-class debut for Barbados and made an instant impact by grabbing 8 wickets in the match, including a fifer in the first innings. For his impressive bowling, Chemar was declared the man of the match in his debut match.

The following season, he came into the spotlight in the West Indies Championship. The speedster was at his menacing best, picking up 36 wickets in the season at an average of 18.91 and helping Barbados to win the domestic title in some style.

Since then, he has been a regular feature in the West Indian A squad. In the 2019 home series, he bagged 15 wickets in three unofficial Test matches against India A.

Holder was constantly tracked by the selectors and in December 2020, he finally made his long-awaited debut in the Test series against New Zealand, registering 2 wickets to his name on a green top at Wellington.

Hailing from the land of fast bowlers, the seamer has the pace and the necessary line and length to trouble even the best in the business. He is still young at the moment and a stint with the West Indian team will provide him with proper exposure to international cricket. It is the responsibility of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to nurture the youngster for the future.
