Emma Manix-Geeves is an Australian wicketkeeper-batter whose journey through elite cricket has been defined by resilience, reinvention, and a fierce love for the game. A right-handed batter and accomplished glovework specialist, she represents the Tasmanian Tigers in the Women’s National Cricket League and will line up for the Sydney Sixers in WBBL|11. Manix-Geeves made her senior debut for Tasmania in 2019 and featured for the Hobart Hurricanes in the early stages of her professional career, but the path to regular state and Big Bash opportunities was far from straightforward.

After receiving her first state contract while still in Year 12, Manix-Geeves was released by Tasmania at the end of the 2019–20 season. Unsure of her next step, she returned home to Launceston just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, forcing her to abandon plans of pursuing Premier Cricket in Melbourne. Instead, she rebuilt her career from the ground up—balancing full-time work, intense winter training, and guidance from respected coach Tim Coyle. This period of self-reflection and hard work proved transformative. Playing for the Greater Northern Raiders in the 2020–21 Premier League season, she rediscovered her passion and struck 597 runs at nearly 60, claiming the Kim Fazackerley Medal as the competition’s standout performer.

Her return to form opened the door back into the Tigers side when injuries hit the squad, and she seized the opportunity. She played all nine WNCL matches in 2021–22, finishing inside the top five run-scorers for the season. Her sustained output earned her a full state contract the following year and reignited her Big Bash career as the Hobart Hurricanes offered her a long-awaited full WBBL deal. In addition to her domestic rise, Manix-Geeves also made history as part of the 1868 commemoration tour of England, becoming one of the first Indigenous female cricketers to tour the UK—an experience that further cemented her place as an influential figure in the sport.

Now entering WBBL|11 with the Sydney Sixers, Manix-Geeves carries the blend of maturity, grit, and technical skill shaped by her unconventional journey. Her story continues to inspire, proving that determination—and a second chance—can turn a career around.
