With an ability to demolish any bowling attack on his good day, Brendon McCullum was a key guiding force for New Zealand. He was a part of 101 Tests, 260 ODIs and 71 T20Is.

McCullum made his ODI debut in January 2002 against Australia. He returned with a knock of 57 in his debut Test innings against South Africa in March 2004. Later in the same year, the swashbuckling batter slammed his maiden red-ball century against Bangladesh.

In the 2007 edition of the T20 World Cup, the talented keeper-batter garnered 139 runs in six innings.

McCullum wreaked havoc to hit 156* off 74 balls in the first-ever fixture of the Indian Premier League in 2008, while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Soon, the explosive batter hit his first ODI century in a knock of 135-ball 166, and stitched a 274-run stand with James Marshall. It still stands as the highest partnership for the Blackcaps in the 50-over format for any wicket.

In February 2010, McCullum became the second player to hit a T20I century, during his knock of 116* against Australia. Two years later, he hit 123 off 58 against Bangladesh and became the first batter to hit two centuries in the shortest format.

The belligerent batter slammed 302 against India in 2014, and became the first Kiwi player to hit a triple century in the longest format. He then played for Chennai Super Kings in the 2014 and 2015 editions of the IPL, and provided quickfire starts along with partner Dwayne Smith.

In his last international Test fixture against Australia in February 2016, the 41-year-old hit 145 off 79, with 21 fours and six sixes. He amassed 14,676 runs across all three formats.

The master tactician captained the Kiwi team in 92 international matches, including his last one as well. Following his retirement, the Dunedin-born served as the head coach of the Knight Riders in the IPL and CPL. He is currently serving as the head coach of the English Test team in 2022.
